Blind Melon
Blind Melon is an American rock band formed in California in 1991. The band originally existed from 1991 to 1995 with members from Indiana, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. They signed to Capitol Records the same year and recorded an unreleased demo.

The alternative rock band?s most notable work dates from 1992 to 1995. In 2006, Blind Melon reorganized itself with a new lead vocalist, Travis Warren. From 1992-96 the band issued 3 studio albums as well as 2 compilations albums and 1 live album.

Blind Melon gained buzz from vocalist Shannon Hoon?s association with Guns N? Roses frontman Axl Rose. The band?s self-titled debut album contained thirteen songs spanning a wide sonic palette.

Blind Melon is the debut rock and roll album by the band, released on September 22, 1992. Influenced by Southern rock and psychedelic music, Blind Melon had a distinctive traditional rock sound.

Nico was the third album by the band Blind Melon, released in 1996 by Capitol Records. It was released after lead singer Shannon Hoon?s death in 1995. For My Friends was the fourth studio album, released on April 22, 2008.

The aggressive dual lead guitars and shouted vocals of Soak the Sin and Tones of Home evoked heavy metal and classic rock. Some of their acoustic songs like Change and No Rain hinted at pop and folk influences.

The single No Rain turned out to be a smash success in November of 1993. The track was led by a popular music video featuring the Bee Girl. Subsequently, the band went platinum four times.

In 1994, Blind Melon began recording their second album, entitled Soup, in New Orleans. Soup was released in 1995, predominantly featuring shorter songs with a less conventional alternative rock approach.

As the album begins and ends with New Orleans style jazz and contains a hodgepodge of instrumentation throughout, it failed to meet sales expectations.

In 1995, Blind Melon contributed a version of the song ?Out on the Tiles? to the Encomium tribute album to Led Zeppelin. After the death of Hoon, the remaining members released Nico - named for Hoon?s daughter in 1996.

Nico contained unreleased songs from the Soup recording sessions, as well as other songs. The album included covers of Steppenwolf and John Lennon songs.

Blind Melon officially disbanded on March 4, 1999. In 2002, Capitol Records released a Classic Masters CD featuring twelve Blind Melon songs. The CD made stronger-than-expected sales.

The group issued a CD DVD package named The Best of Blind Melon in 2005. the package featured Blind Melon performing live from a September 1995 concert in Chicago. In April 2006, Capitol Records released the Live at the Palace CD.

In September 2006, it was announced that Blind Melon has reunited with a new lead singer, Travis Warren. In later months, three new Blind Melon songs were released which include Make a Difference, For My Friends and Harmful Belly.

In Oct 2007, Blind Melon appeared for the first time since 1995 in Providence, Rhode Island. They issued For My Friends under Adrenaline Records.
