The Poster Boy of English Football – Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney joined Everton’s youth team in his early years, and then made his professional start from Everton in 2002. He is currently one of the most famous soccer players out there, and his paycheck recently became £300,000 a week! He signed for Manchester United in 2004, transferring from Everton with a £25.6 million fee. Interestingly enough the most goals he has ever made for Manchester United – 29 – have been in April. He scored his 200th goal for Manchester United in the Champions League group stage match, against Bayer Leverkusen, making him the fourth-highest scorer in the club, of all time. He is also part of the national football team of England and playing in Group D of FIFA World Cup 2014.
