Birth of an Incredible Show

Disney on Ice started its journey in 1981 and is, without a doubt, a truly spectacular ice show. Produced by Feld Entertainment, it brings one within the confines of a world of magic and wonder, just as one would imagine it to be. Characters that have been there forever, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck, to Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder, Ariel and Eric, Belle and her doting Beast; all come onto the ice to perform stories that leave adults and children stunned and wanting more.

The production offers a range of shows with a variety of Disney stories being played out in each of them like “Rockin’ Ever After”, “Treasure Trove”, ‘Worlds of Fantasy” and “Let’s Party”, all of which give a special look to all of your favorite Disney characters and their stories.

Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic

Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic is a particularly amazing show where over 65 different Disney characters are featured. The stories include ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’. Bob and his superhero family from ‘The Incredibles’ also visit, along with Lilo and Stitch. Mickey and Minnie help tell each story and the choreography. Perhaps the most mesmerizing feature of the show is the timeless music to which the figure skaters spin and perform pirouettes gracefully. Little girls love the dances that Belle, Jasmine, Mulan and Ariel perform, all in search of themselves and their one true love. Also, Aladdin’s routine is quite something. It’s no surprise; many of the cast members are former Olympic, world and national figure skating competitors, and if nothing else, their breathtaking displays make it an extremely entertaining two hours.

Disney on Ice Princess Wishes: Princesses and Heroes

And of course, no Disney production is complete without a healthy dose of princes and princesses. The Disney on Ice Princess Wishes: Princesses and Heroes show is another amazing lineup of timeless tales. The show is presented by Prince Naveen and Tinker Bell, from ‘Princess and The Pea’ and ‘Peter Pan’ respectively, along with Mickey Mouse. It’s a look into a great many Disney Princesses’ lives, stories and struggles. Fans join Prince Phillip on a quest to earn the love of Aurora, as he battles Maleficent in her dragon form, and yes – there is a fire breathing dragon on ice as the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ sequence is performed. The first half of the show opens the world of Belle and the Beast from ‘Beauty and The Beast’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’. The entire second half of the show is dedicated to Cinderella’s enchanting tale of regained dreams, a batty old fairy godmother, a Charming (pun intended) prince, and a pumpkin.

The Experience

The costumes and sets of Disney on Ice are very elaborate. Audience members find the various underworld creatures from ‘The Little Mermaid’ glowing in the dark; Aladdin riding on an elephant and taking Jasmine around on a magic carpet ride.

What makes this show unforgettable, apart from the lovely characters, classic songs, world-class spins, lasers, and a dragon – is the story. It is the story and how they are told that keep them alive, evergreen and blossoming, keeping the wonder and spark in children’s worlds full of mystery and possibilities.
