Tabernacle Notting Hill
The Tabernacle, as the name suggests, was originally founded as a Baptist Church back in 1910 by Dr. Leonard Gaston as The Broughton Tabernacle, until it was transformed into a House of Blues club in 1996 for 1996 Summer Olympics.
Prior to that, the building remained vacant for several years after it was no longer utilized as a Church. The Tabernacle is located at the Luckie Street right across the famous Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta Georgia. Its prime location is the main reason why after being used for 1996 Summer Olympics, the building was transformed into a mid sized concert venue with the capacity of holding 2,600 people, and started hosting sold out concerts. One of the eye catching features of The Tabernacle"s interior is its massive Chandelier that was brought to the building from the Loew"s Grand Theatre.
The Tabernacle suffered severe amount of damage by the tornado that hit Downtown Georgia on March 14, 2008. The severity of the tornado was so much that it literally blew out the windows of the building along with the damages done to the ceiling. The repairs took place shortly after on fast scale and the building was completely repaired with in the short period of less than two months.
The ownership of the venue changed from time to time over its lustrous history, previously the venue was managed by House of Blues, but lately Live Nation has added up all the House of Blues clubs with in its wide array of venues spread all over the United States. Every year Live Nation hosts, organizes, promotes and produces the live concerts and tours by some of the biggest stars of our time including the likes of, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, U2 and many more. Live Nation operates with one aim year after year and that is to promote live entertainment to everyone. From time to time, Live Nation signs some of the finest music artists and organizes are promotes their live performances.
Previously Tabernacle has staged the memorable performances by the artists like 10 Years, Mudvayne and Shinedown and Sir Elton John. Music is not that entire tabernacle has to offer to the attendees, a number of stand-up comedy acts have also been staged at the venue previously including the acts by Cheech and Chong, Lisa Lampanelli, Stephen Lynch, and Bob Saget.
