In the Albany region, the Pepsi Area is the best place for organizing concerts, shows, football games, circus etc. It is a huge arena with a lot of seats. Sound and lighting facilities are perfect. The concerts arranged here have always been different owing to the stage which can be set up either in the middle or to the left or the right, subject to the tour.
In January 2008, the final concert performance for the The Best of Both Worlds Tour (A tour performed by Miley Cyrus.) will be performed here.
World Wrestling Entertainment has often been held at the arena. Three superstars won their first WWE Championship in this arena. Also, 1992's Royal Rumble took place here. The event is sough to be one of the most distinguished events in WWF History as Ric Flair went over an hour to win the Rumble, and claim the WWF Championship for the first time.
In 2000, the Pepsi Arena hosted the World Wrestling Federation's No Mercy, famous for the return of Steve Austin to active competition after being wounded by his opponent Rikishi. This show also comprised of Kurt Angle who had won the WWF Championship for the first time, overcoming The Rock.
Somewhere at the same time in the then named Pepsi Arena, Steve Austin had a beer truck driven down the ramp to the ring and sprayed Vince McMahon and company with beer.
In January 2006, Edge also won his first WWE Championship, when it hosted New Year's Revolution.
It also hosted the second ECW On Sci Fi show on June 20th, along with a SmackDown! taping.
On August 28, 2007 the Times Union Center hostes the first live broadcasted ECW On Sci Fi along side the first SmackDown! taping after WWE Summerslam 2007. The SmackDown taping which also highlighted the return of Rey Mysterio to SmackDown following a knee wound.

Located in Albany, New York is the Times Union Center is an indoor arena, which facilitates an utmost seating capacity of 17,500 for sporting events. Existing tenants comprise of Siena College's men's basketball team, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League, and the Albany Conquest of af2.
On January 30, 1990, the building - designed and created by Clough Harbour & Associates at a cost of $68.6 million - was opened as the Knickerbocker Arena with a performance by Frank Sinatra. In 1997, the ownership rights of the arena were sold to Pepsi, and consequently, was renamed to ‘Pepsi Arena’ from 1998-2006. In May 2006, the ownership rights were again sold; this time to the Times Union, a regional newspaper, and thus, accordingly, the arena was renamed to the Times Union Center on January 1, 2007. The building is under the management of SMG.
Earlier tenants have comprised of the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League, the Albany Patrons of the Continental Basketball Association, the Albany Choppers of the International Hockey League, the Albany Attack of the National Lacrosse League, and the New York Kick of the National Professional Soccer League. Additionally, the University at Albany has availed the facility for past games against Syracuse University and has been approached to use the facility for some dates in the future in the wake of their participation in the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament.
The Times Union Center also frequently hosts exhibition games of major sports leagues. The NBA, WNBA, and NHL have all played games at the arena.
The Times Union Center is often organizes the annual Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference basketball tournament (1990-96, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006), and hosts the ECAC Hockey League championships every March. It will host the MAAC basketball tournament again in 2008 and 2010.
In 2003, the Times Union Center hosted the NCAA basketball East Regional. Syracuse University had won the match on their way to their first national championship. The arena also hosted the first and second rounds of the 1995 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament as the Knickerbocker Arena.
In 2006, the Times Union Center hosted the NCAA ice hockey East Regional tournament. The Michigan State Spartans of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), Harvard of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Hockey League (ECACHL), Maine of Hockey East, and New Hampshire, also of Hockey East, all participated in the East Region. Maine resulted in progressing to the Frozen Four. The arena has hosted ice hockey regionals numerous times in the past, also, most recently in 2004.
In addition to this, the Times Union Center hosted a regional quarterfinal between St. Lawrence University and Boston University in 2000, which went into quadruple overtime; becoming the longest game in the history of the tournament and the second longest game in Division I men's college hockey history and at present, is the third longest game.
In 1992, The Times Union Center also hosted the Frozen Four on two occasions, when Lake Superior State University overpowered Wisconsin for the national championship, and another time in 2001, as the Pepsi Arena when Boston College defeated North Dakota.
From the time of its opening show which featured Frank Sinatra on January 30, 1990, the Times Union Center has become a renowned concert venue, owing to its vicinity to bigger cities like New York, Boston, and Montreal, where concert tickets tend to sell out more rapidly. It lies at walking distance from the city's Greyhound Bus station, over and above being in close proximity to hotels, bars and restaurants. The open parking lots next to the arena offer fans an outstanding tracking area for fans prior to the show’s starting.
In 1996, the jamband The Grateful Dead released a concert album from their March 1990 Knickerbocker Arena performances titled Dozin' at the Knick. In 2003, rock band Phish joined up with band co-founder Jeff Holdsworth for the first time in virtually 18 years.
On June 19, 1999 Shania Twain performed in the arena as a part of her first major Concert Tour Come on Over Tour.
On December 3, 2001 Britney Spears performed at this venue as part of her Dream Within a Dream Tour.
On July 16, 2005, Bruce Springsteen played a solo acoustic show here as part of his Devils & Dust Tour.
On April 30, 2006, at that moment named Pepsi Arena had hosted the yearly held Parkfest celebration that featured an all day long street festival outside on South Pearl Street. Performances inside the Pepsi incorporated New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional, Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes. The event had beforehand been held at the Altamont Fairgrounds.
On April 17, 2007, Billy Joel played his ninth concert at Times Union Center, which consequently, turned out to be the highest box office attendance of any artist to play at the arena. Also, a banner was raised in his honor.
On September 12, 2007, Genesis, the band, had performed here as part of the Turn It On Again: The Tour.
