A theater that is a certified national treasure is playing host to another epic season of performances. This is the story of the famous Mount Baker Theatre. This historic landmark has been a source of pride and intrigue for quite a long time now. From the time it was first constructed to this day and age, this wonderful arena has given people and especially historians plenty to talk about. So if you are into entertainment then this is your chance to book Mount Baker Theatre tickets and experience what makes it so different.
The Mount Baker Theatre has a history that dates back to the 1920's. That was the time when theaters in the country were coming to their own and things on the cultural front were beginning to hit a boom. Vaudeville was coming to the fore in a big way and new theaters around the country needed to be constructed to keep that going.
Bellingham provided a picture perfect location at the Pacific West Coast. The area called for someone to pick up the baton and develop it into a theatrical paradise. That was done by none other than the legendary William Fox, the owner of 20th Century Fox. He was also the owner of West Coast Theatres and he used that entity to complete his plan. Renowned architect R.C. Reamer was given the task of designing the facility. Construction began in the year 1926 and after only one year, the brand new Mount Baker Theatre opened its doors for the public for the first time on 29th April, 1927. The opening gala was attended by a sold-out crowd.
It had a seating capacity of eighteen hundred at the time of its construction. The entire structure consists of three different performing arts places. The biggest of them is the Main Theater which can play host to fifteen hundred people at a time. It has a huge stage and an orchestra pit twenty five feet below that can accommodate twenty five artists. Not only that, but the Main Theater is also equipped with a brilliant sound system, a huge movie screen to go with an ancient pipe organ that enhance the splendor of the place. Then there is the Encore Room suited for small gatherings and meetings and the Walton Theater that caters to performances on a small scale.
The Mount Baker Theatre has undergone renovations over the years but it has still retained its original design and architecture. The venue received arguably its biggest accolade to date when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1978. The theater now holds all types of different events every year. Entertainment industry has witnessed its share of epic events being held there. Now that the latest season of shows is underway book your Mount Baker Theatre tickets and enjoy the confines of a wonderful national monument.
