Details of Morris Performing Arts Center and the Ticket Luck value
Situated in the heart of Downtown South Bend, Indiana, the Morris Performing Arts Center is the hub of local and national Broadway shows, standup comedies and music concerts. Being the only high scale entertainment venue of the region, it draws attendees from all across the surrounding areas of Southern Michigan and Northern Indiana. It is also home to the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and Broadway Theatre League of South Bend. Morris Performing Arts Center tickets are up for grabs as the world class performing center plays host to a series of acts by renowned music and theatre artists.
The Morris was originally built as part of the Orpheum Theatre chain in 1921. Its construction cost was $1 million while the land was acquired for a sum of $100, 000. Known at the time as the ‘Palace Theatre’, it was considered as the most modern art center of the country.
The interior of the building was designed by Chicago based architect J.S Aroner. He intended to make the theatre look like a palace providing its audiences the ultimate royalty experience. The architecture styles incorporated in the theatre’s interior include Baroque, Greco-Roman, Spanish Renaissance and Art Deco. Thus a walk through the aptly named ‘Palace Theatre’ transports the patrons into the glorious and era of the European Empire.
The theatre was called ‘Palace Theatre’ until the 50s when it was bought by a local philanthropist Mrs Ella M. Morris who further sold the building to the city for a minimal amount of $1. After a restoration process, the theatre was re-opened as Morris Civic Auditorium. It was named after Mrs. Morris in recognition for her noble efforts to help save the region’s traditional center of performing arts.
Over the following decades, the theatre stage was graced by many top class acts. Due to a temporary inactive phase of performances, the Morris was shut down in 1998. However the Board of Directors for Morris Entertainment soon embarked upon an extensive renovation process of its structure and features. Hence the new millennium witnessed a grand re-launch of the venue with the new current name ‘The Morris Performing Center’.
The newly restored Morris is a cream, blue and rose colored building. It boasts an intricately designed architectural interior. The Morris stage measures a height and width of fifty six feet by fifty seven feet respectively. The house contains a seating capacity of two thousand five hundred and sixty, 1282 of which are placed in the balcony while the remaining at the lower level. It also consists of a Morris Bistro Restaurant, also located at the lower level. Since its reopening, the Morris has hosted many top acts by famous artists like Sheryl Crow, Jeff Dunham, Jerry Seinfeld and countless others.
A historical landmark, the Morris Center of Performing Arts is consistently placed amongst the Top 100 Theatres Worldwide list by Pollstar Magazine. The prestigious Facilities Magazine has also honored the center with several Prime Site Awards year after year.
If you want to enjoy the royalty experience while treating yourself to the most magnificent architectural visuals and entertaining performances, then you must get hold of the Morris Performing Arts Center tickets soon.
