Meyerson Symphony Center
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - a concert hall located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA) was designed by architect I.M. Pei and Russell Johnson's Artec Acoustic Consultants, Inc.
With an available 260,000 square feet above ground space and 225,000 square feet below ground space, The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center has 30,000 square feet of Italian travertine marble, built with 22,000 pieces of Indiana limestone and 4,535 organ pipes. It has a seating capacity for around 2,062 people. Comprising of 918 square panels of African (Makore) cherrywood, 216 square panels of American cherrywood and 211 glass panels with the conoid windows. The ceiling is around 85 foot high in the concert hall. In addition to all this, it comprises of 74 concrete reverberation chamber doors, each weighing as much as 2.5 tons, 56 acoustical curtains, 50 restrooms, 4 private suites for meetings, banquets, and recitals.
Opened in September of 1989, The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center has been a defining moment of imaginative brilliance since it has been made. The Meyerson is home to the top-notch Dallas Symphony Orchestra and other Dallas-based cultural institutes including the Turtle Creek Chorale, the Dallas Wind Symphony, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. Benefit concerts, corporate meetings, religious services, band and choral festivals and many other events are hosted here.
The building’s remarkable architectural requisites and matchless acoustics provide the most excellent atmosphere for extraordinary events in Dallas.
