Before the start of the show, after the arrival of the guests, the attendees are provided time to mingle and to absorb the ambiance of the 11th century arena. Guests can feast on the art displays as well as buy exquisite armory, souvenirs, wardrobe items and much more - all dating back to the 11th century.
Once guests have settled in to the great hall, the show begins with a welcome from the King and Queen in the Medieval Times Illinois castle's entry room. From there, guests are escorted into a dining area with rows and rows of tables that surround a large central jousting field.
The characters are introduced and audience members assigned to their knight, amidst the serving of the dinner. Each section of the dining area is given their own night and a color to fly as the tournament unfolds below on the field.
The King of Arms leads a spectacular display of equestrian skills and pageantry. The pace quickens as the Tournament of Games begins. The knights on horseback face their competition in games of skill. The experience culminates as trumpeters summon the knights for a tournament.
The Knights are well trained professionals that accurately replicate the scenes from an 11th century court room. Or better still, they simply transport the audience back in time to a place they my have only read about in their history books.
Attention is given to the detailed, accurate and exquisite costumes adorned by the artists and this is perhaps what justifies the steep prices along with other features.
The gorgeous, expansive Schaumburg Castle, one of Medieval Times' most memorable, is an exact replica of its other family members. However, it differs slightly due to its colossal stone tower and emerald lawns.
Nearby Chicago attracts customers that re the country"s most loyal sports fans, who aren't shy about cheering on the Schaumburg Castle's armored athletes. The Schaumburg Castle, at the intersection of I-90 West and Roselle Road, is minutes from O'Hare International Airport.
