If there is a need to list down most premiere art centers in the city then Lexington Opera House tops the list. It is opened for the performances all around the year and is located near Victorian Commercial Block on 145 North Broadway.

The current owner of Lexington Opera House is Lexington Center Corporation and it manages all the affairs of the Opera House through its management and board of directors.

History
Lexington Opera House was not a new construction from a scratch but it was built on the older opera house in 1886 that was gutted down due to accidental fire in it.

The design of construction was altogether new and was conceived by Oscar Cobb who was an architect specialized in theatrical designs. The architect was form Chicago. The opening of Newer and more beautiful Opera House was marked by a special edition of "Our Angel" play.

The Opera was housed in a triple storey structure that was able to accommodate up to 1,250 audiences. The stage was another master piece of architect with balconies on both sides. It also housed two boxed shaped rest areas on its sides.

The interior of the house was given much attention during the construction and the decoration and cushioning was entirely based on morocco which was a soft leather made from goatskin from Turkey. The racks for hat, umbrella and cane and coats were provided in sufficient quantity for the visitors.

There is also a gallery located in one of the balconies that has snapshots of superstars, pop idols, movie stars, big shots, public figures and other famous artists.

The unique thing about all these artists is that had performed on the stage of Lexington Opera House since late 18th century. Historical overview of the Lexington Opera House is also put up at same place for the information of the visitors.

The Lexington Opera House saw many ups and downs during its long history. It saw its booms right after the renovation and when the motion picture industry flourished, it saw its refuse. The house had rock bottom attendance with this adverse situation was restored in mid 1980s when it started off with musicale and plays.

The Events
The programs and shows in the House address all sorts of audiences ranging from kids to old visitors. It can accommodate comedy, family shows, children programs, musicales and ballet dances. It also arranged national tours for Broadway.

Since its creation, the Lexington Opera House has the honour of providing variant classy performances on its stage. One of the show required water flooding on the stage and then there was a requirement of flocking of hundreds of animals and then again there was a chariot race on the stage during show of Ben-Hur.

On all these occasions there was not a single time when aspect of reality was missing out of the show. The overall impression of the Opera House gives its visitors a trendy yet elegant place to come and enjoy their weekends with friends and families.
