In the same year, NASCAR and Indy Racing League announced that they will bring events to Kansas Speedway for its inaugural racing season in 2001.On May 8, 2001, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce declared Kansas Speedway as a tourism leader and accordingly presented the track president Grant Lynch with an award.
