The Franklin Institute Science Museum is the oldest organization in the United States that is devoted to the study and promotion of mechanical arts and applied sciences and houses an interactive museum of science and technology.

The Franklin Institute is a museum located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which was founded in honor of Benjamin Franklin on 5th Feb. "1924. It is one of the oldest and premier centers of science education and development in the United Sates.

The museum began in 1825 in its original building at 15 South 7th Street and moved into its current home on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway over 100 years later, in 1934. The funds collected to build this new Institute and Memorial on the Parkway came from the Poor Richard Club, the City Board of Trust, the Benjamin Franklin Memorial, Inc., and The Franklin Institute.

The men behind this great discovery were Samuel Vaughn Merrick and William H. Keating. The prior reason of The Franklin Institute of the state of Pennsylvania to be found was for the Promotion of the Mechanic Arts.

The institute comprises of three centers, The Science Center, The Franklin Center, and The Center for Innovation in Science Learning, and other than this, it also houses the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial.

The Franklin Institute has played host to many famous scientists who have demonstrated groundbreaking new technology here, such as Nikola Tesla, who demonstrated the principle of wireless telegraphy at the institute in 1893, and later on 25th Aug. "1934, it was host to Philo Taylor Farnsworth, who was responsible for giving the world"s first public demonstration of an all-electronic television system.
