Croke Park Tickets & Upcoming Events
Croke Park, often referred to as Croker, is a principal stadium as well as the headquarters of the well known "Gaelic Athletic Association" in Dublin, Ireland. The place has mainly been used by the GAA since the late eighteenth century, hosting Gaelic games, the most notable among which have been the yearly All-Ireland finals in hurling and football. This gigantic stadium has a seating capacity of more than eighty-two thousand, which was made possible after a few redevelopments in the nineties. It is now Europe's fourth largest stadium.
The venue has hosted concerts by some of the biggest names from the music industry like U2, Celine Dion, Neil Diamond, Westlife, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Tina Turner, Red Hot Chili Peppers, One Direction and Take That. It has also hosted events like the International Eucharistic Congress, and the 2003 Special Olympics closing and opening ceremonies. Croke Park tickets are highly sought-after by sports, athletics and music fans since it hosts a variety of high profile events.
Croke Park initially opened in 1913, at which point it only had two stands that are now known as the grassy banks and the Hogan stand. After less than a decade, the GAA sought to increase the capacity of the stadium and it was not long before they added the Cusack Stand. Expansion continued even after that and in 1961 the venue recorded its highest attendance ever when more than ninety thousand people watched the Offaly v Down game at the Championship Final of All-Ireland Senior Football.
After addition of seats to the Cusack stand, the largest crowds have been within eight-five thousand mark. The stadium has still recoded huge attendance figures. The rugby Heineken Cup semi-final was watched by a crowd in excess of eighty-two thousand people in the year 2009, a record for a rugby union game. This record was only broken in 2012 by the English Premiership game featuring Saracens and Harlequins at the Wembley Stadium with a crowd of more than eighty-three thousand.
In February 2013, the GAA finally opened the Hall of Fame in the Park museum. The foundations for the award scheme are the Millennium's Teams that were announced in 2000 and 1999. All thirty players were inducted along with Tony McTague, an Offaly footballer, and Eamonn Cregan, a Limerick hurler, both of whom were selected by the GAA sub-committee of the early 1970s.
Another intriguing feature of the stadium is its walkway, called Etihad Skyline Croke Park. It is forty-four meters high and offers a fascinating view of the Dublin city and its surrounding areas. This famous venue is once again all set to play host to another fascinating series of various events. This is your chance to be a part of another incredible year at one of the most iconic venues in the world. Book your Croke Park tickets and catch the festivities live up close and personal.
