This indeed helped the trio in getting what they wanted; hence they formed Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul and toured Quebec the following year.

Although positively perceived by the critics, Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul didn"t do well financially and that ultimately resulted in its break up. Later on Ste-Croix and Laliberte joined forces yet again and organized a fair during summers in Baie-Saint-Paul and called it La Fête Foraine.

La Fête Foraine was held in the July of 1982 for the first time, but later on it was banned the by the locals of the Baie-Saint-Paul due to some reasons. Although facing opposition from the citizens of his hometown, Laliberte carried on managing and organizing the fair for next few years.

However Govt. of Canada awarded Laliberte with the grant of $1.5 Million to host the Celebration of Discovery of Canada by Jacques Cartier. That tour was named Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil and was started in 1983 with an intent of running it for just 1 year.

The tour ended during 1984, while it being a success. The following year, Laliberte, requested again for the funding, from the Canadian Govt.
