Chandler Center For The Arts
A nonprofit organization with a mission "to promote the Chandler Center for the Arts as a prominent and inclusive cultural institution by providing quality performing and visual arts programs that reflect the needs of a diverse community; and to raise funds to support programs and future needs of the Chandler Center for the Arts" is an Arizona based cultural foundation that is jointly owned by the City of Chandler and the Chandler Unified School District.
Incorporated under the Arizona state laws in September 1988 and commenced operations in August 1989, The Chandler Center for the Arts has the Chandler Cultural Foundation as its programming head. The management and control of the Center rests in the Chandler Cultural Foundation.
Established as "a means to facilitate programming and fund development for the Chandler Center for the Arts", the foundation aims to transform the Chandler Center for Arts into "a premier cultural resource that focuses on leading, advocating and advancing arts and culture in the greater Chandler area and is sustained by stable financial resources".
The Foundation is responsible for both the promotion and the operation of the Center to in the best interests of the community. The Cultural Foundation is solely responsible for procuring grants, gifts, contributions and other public support in the form of money and/or other property, and to expend these funds to support programming and operating costs of the Chandler Center for the Arts and in the best interests of the community.
The management and control of the Chandler Cultural Foundation in turn rests in the hands of its 12 member board of directors which include:

To achieve such dedicated and strong mission and vision, the Foundation has undertaken a number of bold and deliberate steps:
Provide Quality, Diverse and Affordable Performing and Visual Arts Programs:The Chandler Center for arts offer high quality at affordable prices since the operating cost is spread out between the city of Chandler and the Chandler Unified School District.
The Center boasts of such huge name as The American Tenors, Marvin Hamlisch, George Winston, The Pat Methany Group, Sweet Honey in the Rock, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Opera Verdi Europa-Aida, and The APS Family series. The average ticket price for the fiscal year 2005 was $24.94.
Outreach and Education: With view to increasing cultural awareness and participation amongst the masses, the Center has undertaken a number of different steps.
The Free Summer Concert Series: This involves holding free concerts for the general public.The Vision Kidz Workshop Series: This involves organizing fret art workshops for young children with the purpose of exposing them to arts and thereby increasing exposure to the different fields of arts such as batik, ceramics, collage, painting, watercolor, drawing, instrument making.The Arts Pass program: The center distributes tickets free of cost to nonprofit agencies to be distributed amongst clients who can not afford them otherwise.
Provide Performance and Gathering Space: The center also leases out its performance site to a number of high quality art groups that hold quality cultural entertainment and awareness programs that in turn help the center in achieving its goals.
Examples of groups who regularly use the Center include Ballet Etudes, Salt River Brass, Chandler Symphony, Mesa Symphony, Phoenix Boys Choir, Phoenix Girls Chorus, Fiesta Chorus, Tempe Dance Academy, Kimberly Lewis School of Dance to name just a few.
The Center targets audience of all ages and of all cultural, ethnic and racial backgrounds. It serves the entire Phoenix-metropolitan area with concentration on the residents of the city of Chandler and the southeast Valley. The average attendance is 282,000 per year for the Center.
In the year 2006, the Chandler Center for the Arts was nominated and won the Governor"s Arts Award in the Community category for outstanding educational, visual and performing arts programs.
In the year 2005, Chandler Center for the Arts Manager, Katrina Mueller, was recipient of a Virginia G. Piper Trust Fellowship that is awarded to up to five outstanding non-profit executives in Maricopa County annually.
Chandler Center for the Arts Assistant Manager, Michelle Mac Lennan, was also awarded a Virginia G. Piper Trust Fellowship in the year 2006.
