Details of Albany Civic Center and the Ticket Luck value
Albany Civic Center, located in Albany, Georgia, is a multi-purpose arena with a seating capacity of over ten thousand. It is officially known as the Albany James Gray, Sr. Civic Center. It is part of a bigger group of entertainment venues known as Albany’s Civic Center Complex in downtown Albany, which also includes the Veterans Park Amphitheater and Albany Municipal Auditorium. Designed as an arena as well as a convention center, the facility has hosted a variety of events including concerts, performing arts, basketball and rodeo. It has been graced by the likes of Elton John and Run-D.M.C. The arena continues to be home to major North American touring productions such as Sesame Street Live and Disney on Ice. Given the wide spectrum of entertainment shows and games hosted at the Civic Center, it’s no surprise why Albany Civic Center tickets are known to be a treat for many.
In 1976, with the opening of Albany Mall in downtown Albany, many well-established firms closed down their stores. Mayor James Gray, Sr. then decided to construct the civic center in order to revitalize the area downtown. Since the center was designed to facilitate convention and arena purposes, it featured an exhibit space of forty-six thousand square feet with an additional space of six thousand feet for meeting room requirements. As a result it can hold a variety of shows including wrestling and boxing with a capacity of more than nine thousand.
Albany Civic Center has previously been home to af2’s South Georgia Wildcats, ABA’s Albany Shockwave, Albany States College Golden Rams, and the now defunct GBA’s Albany Sharp Shooters. It is currently home to PIFL’s indoor football team Albany Panthers. During the late eighties and early nineties, the center hosted SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament. Moreover, it has hosted the WCW SuperBrawl IV; WCW Great American Bash; WCW Monday Nitro and NWA Clash of Champions III: Fall Brawl. Interestingly, in 1988, the song video of Run-DMC’s Mary Mary was shot on arena grounds.
The Center is featuring another wide spectrum of events this year, which includes plays. It will be hosting Tyler Perry’s new touring comedy Hell Has No Fury Like the Woman Scored. The play has been written, produced and directed by Perry. Also coming to the arena is Albany Symphony Orchestra that will be performing the family concert The Orchestra Sings, and A Classically Jazzed Quartet show with Ken Trimmins.
Founded in 1930, the Orchestra is among the oldest in the city and unites many classic music fans with each of its shows. For children’s entertainment, the facility is welcoming Disney Junior Live’s hit touring production, Pirate and Princess Adventures. Albany’s comedy lovers are in for a laughter-filled surprise featuring Akintude, with a performance titled Berachah Church Fellowship Christmas Gala. For those looking forward to some hard core wrestling, come and experience TNA’s live wrestling.
