Roundabout Theatre Company is committed to treating the audience to high quality theatre productions and brings to its stage some of the finest artists. Not only does the company produce classic musicals and plays but also gives chance to emerging writers and artists to showcase their work. Theatergoers will be treated to a brand new show this season as the company has once again joined hands with the acclaimed playwright Joshua Harmon. The latest production titled, "Significant Other" will hit the stage in May 2015 and so far a limited run has been announced. Cited to be hilarious and heart-wrenching, Significant Other tickets are a must buy if you're looking for a light play.
Significant Other will start the previews in May at the Laura Pels Theatre - Steinberg Center for Theatre and its premiere is set for June. Significant Other centers on Jordan Berman, a single man living in the city. He's on the quest of finding his one true love but it's not that easy. While he's searching for the "perfect one", he gets to experience different things and learns about the realities of life. Berman, a gay bachelor, spends most of his time with his three girlfriends, with whom he's very close to. But as these friends start to get married one by one and Berman attends bachelorette parties, he learns that it's not easy to support the people you love, just as it's not easy to find true love.
Joshua Harmon has previously tasted success with the hit play "Bad Jews", also produced by Roundabout Theatre Company. A comedy play, it revolves around a young woman called Daphna Feygenbaum who visits New York to attend her grandfather's funeral. She ends up fighting with a cousin over her grandfather's belonging, which they both want but for totally different reasons. The play was not only lauded for its story but also superb direction by Daniel Aukin. According to the playwright, the relationship between a writer and director is a sort of marriage. Their goal is to produce a baby-play and raise it together, bringing it on the right track. They have to balance and compliment each other's skills. In Significant Other, Joshua has roped in Trip Cullman as the director and he has called him a perfect fit. Trip Cullman has the knack of extracting admirable performances from the actors. A well-respected director, Cullman has worked on difficult plays as well which include "Dog Sees God" and "Arabian Night".
Joshua has shown his playwright prowess by writing deliciously nasty diatribes and has wowed the critics with his theatre sensibility. With Significant Other tickets in hand you can once again enjoy his hilarious storytelling style and infectious humor. The cast and other details of the play are yet to be disclosed but the creative team will definitely be casting some talented performers to play the characters written by Joshua. Don't miss the play when it raises its curtains in NY this summer.
