Details of Sharleen Spiteri and the Ticket Luck value
Let us introduced you to a multi-talented Scottish lady who is loved by million of fans all over the world. She has been hailed as one of the most successful women in British music in the last 25 years as she can be seen everywhere every time. We are talking about none other than the British pop queen Sharleen Spiteri who has been entertaining her fans for some times now.
Most commonly known as the front-woman of the popular band Texas, this talented singer and songwriter has recently ventured as the solo artist and is making waves all around with her awe-inspiring debut Melody.
Sharleen Spiteri is one of the great success stories of 90s pop, but what make her more popular is the fact that she has not lost her golden touch even today and the huge sales and good ratings of her debut album is a clear proof of this. Born on November 7, 1967 at suburban Glasgow, Sharleen was raised in a musical family.
While her father, who was a merchant seaman by profession, used to play the violin; her mother loved to sing. Raised in the Scottish countryside, she always found her house filled with the sounds of classic rock and soul. Interestingly, these two influences could later be seen on Sharleens own musical style as she delivered some of the best music with her band Texas.
Texas is a name that has become synonymous to Sharleens success and vice-versa. Being tagged as one of the biggest British bands of recent times, Texas realized the dreams of this beautiful and ambitious Scottish singer by giving her the right break at right time. She, on the other hand, has successfully rendered her services as the face and voice of this band for twenty years.
Sharleens association with Texas is as old as the band itself. It all started when she was only eighteen, she met Johnny McElhone who was then in a process of creating a new band. He got impressed with her voice and formed Texas with Sharleen and some other band members. Formed in Glasgow in 1988, Texas became a household name in Western Europe in no time.
Sharleen got the right kind of exposure from the outset of her career as very first attempt with Texas, a hit single I Dont Want A Lover, earned her enough fan base and critical acclaim. This debut effort by Sharleen-McElhone duo hit the bulls eye and reached top ten in the UK. The band Texas has released six albums and most of them were declared hit by the listeners.
While their fourth album White On Blonde sold over one and a half million copies in the UK alone, this 1996 mega release also went on to reach the No. 1 mark on the UK charts not just once, but twice. She also got Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Collection for this album. Along with it, dozens of her other hit singles also hit the top ten including the mesmerizing Al Green cover Tired of Being Alone.
Although, Sharleen got recognition as the front-liner of Texas, she has always experimented with various other careers as well. Sharleen truly epitomizes a woman of today who can successfully handle different responsibilities at one time.
While you may be surprised to know that first entered the professional life as a hairdresser, her current management business, Near Back, makes her one of the highest paid company directors in Scotland. Not only this, with a personal wealth of 20 million dollars, she also co-founded Glasgow based radio station, Beat 106 in 1998 with footballer Ally McCoist and TV presenter Carol Smillie which was later sold to the Capital Radio Group for 32 million dollars.
This is what we call beauty with brains. And with such pristine beauty, she was also offered the lead role in a classic Hollywood flick Moulin Rouge that she rejected because of her musical assignments.
Along with her Texas act, Sharleen also continued working on some other projects as well. Her 2001 collaboration with Roger Sanchez on his album First Contact is the most noteworthy among these. However, her first full fledge solo act came quite recently in 2008 when she treated her fans with an absolute stunning solo debut Melody.
The album that proved quite true to its name, is a Sharleens baby all in all as she took complete artistic control of its every sonic touch. Besides rendering her smooth and soulful voice to the beautiful melodies, she wrote the whole album and also produced it.
Sharleen describes this work as her ultimate personal fantasy record and her experimentation with different sounds in the album truly proves her grip on every genre of music. Melody was released on July 14 2008 with two of its biggest singles All The Times I Cried and Stop, I Dont Love You Anymore released simultaneously on July 07 and October 06, 2008.
Apart from these, songs like It Was You, Dont Keep Me Waiting and Im Gonna Haunt You also fared well with the listeners and made the album an utterly enjoyable experience.
Sharleen Spiteris musically stylish and lyrically powerful journey can be summed up in two words Simply fabulous. She has made her mark in everything that she has done so far. And with her latest stroke as a solo artist, she promises much more fun and entertainment for her fans. Watch out for her as she is going strong like never before.
