Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney on Ice is a touring ice show production that is run in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company. This collaboration not only showcases extravagant performances but awe-inspiring experiences.
Disney on Ice production started in 1981 under the title "Walt Disney's World on Ice." In 1998, it was renamed to "Disney on Ice." At any given point in time, Disney on Ice runs eight productions. Their productions have been entertaining audiences in different parts of the world such as the Middle East, Europe, America, Australia as well as Asia.
The shows usually start off by playing two legs in North America (two years), then moving on to Japan (third year), Australia, England and other parts of the globe (fourth year). They usually visit the US during their fifth year and then move on to other places for the sixth year.
Primarily targeting children, the show features figure skaters dressed up as Disney cartoon characters. Each of the performances showcased live on stage are based on various story lines from different Disney movies and feature music from them. The star performers of the show are recognized as the Disney characters themselves whereas the skaters in supporting roles stay anonymous. All Disney on Ice shows are hosted by the all-time favorite Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto and Chip 'n Dale.
Passport to Adventure started off as "World on Ice: 3D" in 1995. Going through several name changes, the show was finally named "Disney on Ice: Passport to Adventure." As mentioned above, Mickey and Minnie Mouse host the Disney on Ice shows. This time around, they will be shifting sides and will be performing on the other side of the curtain.
Passport to Adventure is based on four journeys. Accompanied by Daisy and Donald, Mickey and Minnie take a trip to the magical worlds of The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, The Lion King and Lilo and Stitch. Fulfilling their desire to explore the world, the beloved couples travel to the Savannah, Under the Sea, Never Land and Hawaii. During their trip, the Disney characters experience several adventures.
Disney on Ice productions are known to entertain the young and old alike. Faces of little princes and princesses sitting amongst the audience lighten up with smiles as their favorite characters appear before their eyes, live on stage. When the word Disney is attached to a title, it sets a very distinctive tone as to what the audience can expect. It is more than just performances and characters; in fact it is a recollection of childhood memories.
