Significant for providing a platform for local dance schools and companies to perform in separate pieces, Danscape enjoys its own status. Dance Alive is proud to present its yet another eclectic performance called Danscape to blow you away.
Revealing the landscape of dance, Danscape is coming in the theaters nearby. Danscape is an annual dance showcase, through which Dance Alive affords young upcoming dancers and choreographers the opportunity to hone their skills in a professional environment. A fantastic show of the touching ballet is all set for its World premiere.
Set to music by composer-in-residence Stella Sung, Danscape is a landmark of Ellis Island which becomes the inspiration for choreographer-in-residence Judy Skinner. Continuing the earthy quality of the evening, Artistic Director Kim Tuttles sensual masterpiece Bolero gets the night off to a rousing finale.
Go and see yourself Gershwins songbook and pianist Kevin Sharpe setting the mood for the jazzy moves of choreographer George Balanchines light-hearted ballet Who Cares. On November 1, Danscape 2008 was hosted by Arts In Motion of The Woodlands, TX. Highlighting many styles of dance, the dance spectacular took place at the Hobby Center.
The evening featured Lauren Anderson, (pictured) formerly of the Houston Ballet performing original choreography. Proceeds from the show benefited the Arts In Motion outreach programs at the Ronald McDonald House, Ovarian Cancer Awareness, and other outreach programs.
Some of other featured performances were Ballet Theatre of Houston, Planet Funk, Choreography by Christopher Cardenas of the Houston MET, Revolution Dance Ensemble formally Boyd Dance Ensemble and Exhilaration EnCompassed Dance Company.
Audience also enjoyed solos by Carlyn Laurie, Brittani Kudlacek, Shelby Carr and Mallory Bechtel. In 2007, Jazzart come of age, thus, Danscape 2007 presented a host of young artists and youth companies that were never before featured on this platform.
Danscape 2007 consisted of two productions to accommodate a large number of participants. Included in the fresh line-up were the second year students of Jazzarts Young Adult Training and Job Creation Program and a dance troupe from the Seychelles.
Jazzart graduate Joel Rose directed the entire performance. This year Dance Alive National Ballet is playing host to Danscape 2008.

Hailing from Russia, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Cuba, Hong Kong, Japan and the United States of America; the worlds best dancers land on the stage with virtuoso technique and breathtaking artistry.
Dance Alives artistic Director Kim Tuttle and choreographer-in-residence Judy Skinner set the tenor for the repertoire, showcasing the versatility and strengths of the dancers. The participants are exciting, dramatic, expressive and elegant with an unusual flair for the comedic.
