Details of Cry Baby and the Ticket Luck value
Cry Baby is a musical that is directed by John Waters and has an outstanding cast of imminent actors that have played justice to their roles. The cast includes Jonny Depp playing the main role supported by Traci Lords, Ricki Lake, David Nelson, Patty Hearts and the one and only Susan Tyrtell. The film also stars Iggy Pop, Troy Donahue, Mink Stole, Joe Dallesandro, and Joey Heatherton.
The movie was Waters second hit to touch the big screen. His first movie Hairspray was a classic hit and loved by millions. Irrespective of the bizarre cast and outrageous performances, the movie could not receive the anticipated fervor and applause. Even with the specific lower rankings, the movie is considered as one of the best cult movies of all times.
The movie is in line with movies like Grease, The Wild One and other Elvis Presley musical movies. This film is primarily a parody of teen musicals and one of the reasons why Jonny Depp took the role as Cry Baby was to poke fun at the teen-idol hysteria surrounding him during his days on the TV shows 21 Jump Street. The movie revolves around the 1950 era in Baltimore Maryland and takes into account delinquent members call Drapes and Squares.
After the thriving success of Hairspray, agencies were offering outrageous monetary benefits to obtain the rights of the money. For the first time in his entire career, John Waters was an international celebrity that people were simply willing to have. Finally, it was the lucky Universal Studios' Imagine Entertainment who garnered up the 12 million dollars it took to create this over-the-top movie musical.
The movie is the typical romantic sequel of boy meets girl and how they have to overcome their culture and social norms to be together. During that era, love between a Drape and a Square member was unheard of and a complete taboo. Cry Baby Walker being a Drape would have to let go of his love Allison who was a Square. Yet the love keeps strengthening the bond.
In the movie Cry Baby is the resident chief of the Drape community comprising of disfigured Hatchet-Face Malnorowski (Kim McGuire), pregnant sister Pepper (Ricki Lake), Hatchet's boyfriend Milton Hackett (Darren E. Burrows), and sexually active Wanda Woodward (Traci Lords).
All of them have played an interesting part in soothing out the curves and giving a realistic picture of that particular era. Allison falls in love with the Drape against the wishes of Allison's grandmother (Polly Bergen) and boyfriend Baldwin (Stephen Mailer). The family of Allison is completely disgusted by the affair and wants no part in it.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the movie is the bizarre acting roles associated with the actors. Some of the most wildest and off performances of the actors have been performed in this movie. The cast and the dynamic lyrics are all outrageous and creative.
The cast includes Traci Lords the famous porn star of the 1980's era. All actors have done an incredible job in being honest and open about their performances. All supporting roles have been well performed. The movie will be remembered by the acting of all supporting performances inclusive of Patty Hearst, David Nelson, Mink Stole, Troy Donohue, Joey Heatherton, Joe Dallesandro and Willem Dafoe.
The move is full of surprises, abusive jokes and music sequels. A recent DVD has also come about that has the director's comments as well as deleted scenes. The DVD also has a magnitude of interviews and bonus materials. A must buy for all Johnny Depp fans!
