Crazy for You is a musical with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and music by George Gershwin.The American Broadway musical made an all-singing and all-dancing comeback with the premiere of "Crazy For You" back in early "90s.

Billed as "The New Gershwin Musical Comedy", Crazy for You is an adaptation of the George and Ira Gershwin 1930 hit "Girl Crazy", interpolating songs from several other productions as well.

The production won the 1992 Tony Award for Best Musical. With Crazy for You, audiences can now delight in the adventures of a stage-struck playboy in a Nevada mining town where romance, mistaken identities, and show-stopping musical numbers all add up to irresistible fun.

Crazy For You, a new Gershwin extravaganza, features a mix-plate of song and dance, spiced up by Ken Ludwig"s hilarious dialogue. Crammed with standards like "I Got Rhythm" and "Embraceable You", the sparkling direction and vibrant choreography of the production is given by Mike Ockrent and Susan Stroman respectively.

You are sure to be swept up in an artfully constructed tale of boy meeting girl in the Wild West, where they spread goodness and ultimately fall in love. The story mainly revolves around a character of a well-to-do 1930"s playboy, Bobby Child. Bobby"s dream in life is to dance and to make his dream come true; he is accompanied by his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancee.

The play opens showing the last performance of The Zangler Follies being wrapped up for the season and Tess, the dance Director, is dodging the advances of the married Mr. Zangler.

The scene is set on that most magical of places, backstage at the Zangler Theater in New York in the 1930"s. The Bobby Child is a rich son of a banking family, called up for an audition with Zangler. He performs K-ra-zy for You, but after landing on Zangler"s toe during the final flourish of his dance routine, he fails to impress Zangler. Bobby dejectedly leaves the stage.

The high-energy comedy continues when Bobby meets Irene. Irene is shown as a wealthy woman to whom Bobby has been engaged for five years. He is then met by his mother who demands him to carry out a piece of banking business for her.

He is caught up in an odd situation when told to go to Deadrock, Nevada to foreclose on a rundown theatre. An argument erupts between the two women over him. Far away from the real world, Bobby imagines dancing with the Follies Girls and joins them in a rousing rendition of I Can"t be Bothered Now. When he is brought back to reality, he decides to run away to Nevada.

Bobby arrives in Deadrock where Everett Baker is already expecting him o foreclose o his Gaiety Theater. Everett"s daughter, the spunky Polly Baker, is the only woman left in this forlorn town. She vows to get even with "Bobby Child" if she ever meets him. When Bobby has an encounter with Polly, he falls in love with her at first sight.

In other scene, the owner of Deadrock"s saloon and Polly"s ardent suitor, Lank Hawkins, is not pleased to see Bobby for her affections. Not realizing who she is, Bobby shows his excitement towards her. But he is in a fix to think that if he forecloses on the theatre, he will lose the girl he loves.

In the meantime, Bobby comes up with the idea of "Putting on a show", disguised as Zangler, to support his theater. After a few days, a group of ten Follies Girls from The Zangler Follies appear who are asked to help Bobby stage a spectacular show in Deadrock. Upon seeing the girls, the sleepy town becomes very lively.

The story takes a twist when Irene arrives, threatening to expose Bobby"s charade. Having successfully putting up a show, Bobby professes his love to Polly at Lank"s saloon. Polly assumes Bobby as Zangler and thus is in love with him. Bobby is about to convince her that he has been masquerading as "Zangler" when the real Zangler walks in.

As the story continues, Bobby decides to return to New York. Before departing, he thanks Polly for the memories. Zangler agrees to stay in Deadrock and spends his last dollar putting together a top-notch production.

On the other hand, Bobby managed to get the deed to the Zangler Theater and takes off for Deadrock and Polly. By this time, Deadrock had been transformed into a jewel of a city. Polly and Bobby are ultimately reunited in Deadrock, Irene marries Lank, and Bobby"s mother is smitten with Everett. Bobby eventually achieves his dream!
