Coco Peru
Miss Coco Peru, Aka Clinton Leupp, is an award-winning American drag performer, perhaps best known for his role in the 1999 independent film Trick. Aka Leupp has almost always been credited as either Coco Peru or Miss Coco Peru.

In 2006, Coco managed successfully to take away his first credit as a voice actor playing Mama Hippo in the animated feature The Wild. Coco Peru also starred in Richard Days Girls Will Be Girls (2003), and was one of six performers featured in the Logo original stand-up comedy series Wisecrack.

Storyteller/monologist Coco Peru aka Clinton Leupp grew up in the Bronx on City Island. Coco Peru got his start as a downtown favorite in the cabaret world of NYC after writing, producing, directing and starring in his first show Miss Coco Peru in My Goddamn Cabaret in the early 90s.

Leupp has appeared in a number of other supporting and guest-starring roles in film and television. Some of these programs include Will & Grace, the Bravo reality series Boy Meets Boy, and the comedy Straight-Jacket (as the secretly lesbian wife of S.R.O. studios head).

Coco has more recently been appearing in follow-up Girls Will Be Girls short films. He recreated his role from that now cult film on the small, small screen. On screen, Coco Peru or Miss Coco Peru is best known for his roles in Jim Falls Fineline feature film, trick (Sundance 1999) and Richard Days IFC feature length comedy Girls Will Be Girls.

He has also his very own half- hour LOGO comedy special taped as part of the Wisecrack series. For comedy film, Girls Will Be Girls, Coco shared the Best Actress Award with his two co-stars Jeffery Roberson and Jack Plotnick at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen as well as the Best Actor Award at Outfest Film Festival.

Coco Perus fans hailed Coco Peru as Drag queen-monologuist-world savior. Coco has been around the block quite a few times and wears her experiences well. She still wears her classic little A-line frock and signature red wig.

Coco is able now to embrace the transcendent and the petty, often within the same heartbeat. Coco Peru plays host to an on-going live series of shows called Conversations with Coco at the Renberg Theater in Los Angeles.

In this show, Coco interviews and celebrates the lives and careers of the GLBT communitys favorite icons. His guests have been the amazing Bea Arthur, the sassy Lainie Kazan, drag legend Mr. Charles Busch, and the beautiful Lesley Ann Warren.

Aka Clinton Leupp, the man beneath the mascara, has created an enviable life through Coco. Coco married Rafael in a castle in Spain on the Mediterranean or first tried sushi at the behest of Bea Arthur.

Coco has showed off her abilities on TV in Arrested Development, Twins, Will and Grace, New York Undercover, Showtimes Rude Awakening, Bravos Boy Meets Boy, Bravos Sexiest Moments in Film, Bravos Welcome to the Parker, and in an Orbitz commercial.

This commercial was nominated for a 2005 GLAAD Media Award. She has also tried herself in the field of singing. People dont hail her a bad singer, but shes more about styling than quality. So when it is overmiked, one tends to focus on her styling.

An avid-traveler, Coco Perus film appearances include To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, Nick and Jane, and Straight-Jacket. Coco can be heard in the Disney animated feature, The Wild as Mamma Hippo! His show Girls Will Be Girls is receiving both critical acclaim as well as criticism.

However, one aspect of this show which can not go unnoticed is the writing. Coco knows well how to toss out about a million ideas and stories, and at first it looks like standup in heels. If you have ever felt like an Outsider you will be inspired by his tales.

Coco Peru has spent considerable time of his life while touring different places. Some of his favorite venues are Joes Pub, Roses Turn and The Westbeth in NY, The Renberg and The Gardenia in Los Angeles, The Colony in Miami, The SOHO Theatre London, Phoenixs Little Theater, Sag Harbors Bay street theater.

The Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Charlottes McGlohon Theatre, The Blue Moon in Rehoboth, Delaware, The UU in Ptown, Maine Street in Ogunquit, Maine, Torontos Buddies in Bad Time Theatre, Harrahs Reno, a yacht in The Mediterranean, a living room in Pittsburgh, and a nudist camp in the mountains of Malibu, CA.
