Celtic Tickets

The qualified basketball team based in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States of America, is known as Celtics. Founded in 1946, the team plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Celtics dominate the league; especially due to their 17 NBA Championships. Currently, the Celtics are under the coachman ship of Doc Rivers and the franchise is owned by Wycliffe Grousbeck. Their home games are played at the TD Banknorth Garden.

The Celtics took shape in the year 1946, and their goal to be a part of the NBA was achieved during 1949's fall season, after the merger of the BAA and the National Basketball League to form the NBA. The Celtics turned out to be the pioneering franchise that drafted an Afro-American player, signing Chuck Cooper, in 1950. The early years of the Celtics were usually the struggling years, until they hired Coach Red Auerbach, who dramatically changed the team's image, making it a constant threat to be the victor in each of his first six seasons in the Eastern Division of NBA. However, it was only a threat as they fell short every time. Among the earliest key basketball players to bond with the Celtics team was Bob Cousy, and he contributed largely to the success of the Celtics.

Celtics history comprises of their golden era of the 1950s till 1980s, when they had dominated the league, along with playing quite impressively in the playoffs. The Celtics advanced to the NBA Finals in 1957, mainly due to the efforts of their new team member, Russell, who had joined them in the December of 1956. The Celtics conquered the St. Louis Hawks in 7 games and earned themselves the first victory of the record of making 17 NBA Championships. Their greatest game ever played in the history of North American sports is the game Phoenix Suns VS. Celtics, from the finals of 1976 NBA. The Celtics defeated the Phoenix Suns in 6 games.

Experiencing such a period of glory, the Celtics, however, had to go through a period of decline. This took place after the passing away of two major players - Len Bias and Reggie Lewis. The team now could only make the playoffs four times from 1996 through 2007.

Recently, the Celtics authorization has gotten back to eminence due to the acquirement of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, which was done while the 2007 off-season. Defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals, the team won their 17th championship on the 17th of June in 2008. The Celtics have had a very old rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since both the sides have challenged each other eleven-times in the NBA Finals by now, the rivalry between them is also considered as the league's supreme rivalry. However, the Philadelphia 76ers is also one of the most prominent rivals of the Celtics, as well as the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers. A few other fierce rivals of the Celtics include the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks. Additionally, the San Antonio Spurs have also offered a strong challenge for Celtics.

The team's logo comprises a depiction of a leprechaun spinning a basketball, initially planned by Zang Auerbach who was the brother of Red Auerbach - Celtics head coach since the early 1950s. However, it was renewed for the 1996-97 season. The logo has been altered many times since then, whereas, the most famous and recognizable one is the one-colored logo with the elf/leprechaun imprinted in clothes of colors black and only green and also white. Several alternative logos of the Celtics are also available, such as the white shamrock with the letters Celtics on top of it, enfolded in a green circle.

With the exception of Russell's era, the Celtics wear white jerseys on home games, and green on away games, accompanied by wearing black sneakers as a tradition, during most of their history. However, at the 2008 - 09 season, the Celtics were seen wearing a tailored edition of their home uniforms, designed specially to honor their last season's championship. To catch the action live, get Cheap Celtics Tickets from Ticket Luck today, and avail our special discount offer.
