Hispanics make the biggest minority with 14 %. Blacks are a close second with 12.4 %. 100 % of the population associates with one religion or another. 53 % of the total Wichita Falls population follows the Southern Baptist Convention, 15 % follows the Catholic Church for it is a very religious community. Just like any other Texan city, Wichita Falls summers are long and hot! But winters on the other hand come with plenty of snow which makes Christmas a snowy event. Reaching Wichita is not a problem, there are several highways which lead straight to the city, Interstate 44 being one, the city has 3 airports and excellent local transport.
The area where the city is now located was inhabited by Choctaw Indians in early 1700s. White settler did not come around until the late 1800s. When the Whites came around, they started building cattle ranches and slowly the population of the area began to swell. The Denver Railway and Forth Worth came around in 1882 and that is when the city became Wichita County, the county seat. Wichita is a city which has been devastated by natural catastrophes many times. Firstly it was hit by a flood in 1886. The original falls, which was located on the bank of Wichita River, was completely destroyed. It was the falls actually after which the city was named. Even though falls was destroyed but it was never dead because due to the love of people for falls, the city had to build an artificial 54 feet high waterfall in Lucy Park.
In terms of entertainment, Wichita is one city where there is always something to do.
