Details of Utah Grizzlies and the Ticket Luck value
Based in West Valley City, Utah, the Utah Grizzlies are an ECHL based professional ice hockey team. The team currently plays its home games in the Maverick Center, and is affiliated with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals. The current incarnation of the Grizzlies was formed in 2005, and the team is a member of the Mountain Division of the Western Conference of the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League).
During their time in the ECHL, the team has made it to the playoffs every year except for the 2005-2006 Season, and has been one of the most consistent teams in the league. To catch the Grizzlies live in action, buy Utah Grizzlies tickets and watch them play against some of the best teams in the ECHL.
The history of the Utah Grizzlies franchise can be traced all the way back to 1994, when ice hockey returned to Denver courtesy of a new expansion franchise in the International Hockey League (IHL), the Denver Grizzlies. The Denver Grizzlies shocked the league and won the Turner Cup Championship in their inaugural season, winning fifty seven regular season games in the process.
Building on the success of their first championship, the Grizzlies would win back to back championships the following season, and cemented their place as the best in the league. The franchise moved to Salt Lake in the same year and was renamed as the Utah Grizzlies.
In 2001, the IHL ceased to exist, and the Grizzlies moved to the American Hockey League (AHL), where they played for four seasons, up till the summer of 2005. The franchise moved to the ECHL in 2005, after a new ownership purchased the Utah Grizzlies name and made a switch from the AHL.
The switch was a welcome one for Grizzlies’ fans, as the team made it to the conference finals for the first time since 2006. The move also made hockey more interesting for the fans, as it rekindled old regional IHL rivalries with teams from Phoenix, Long Beach and Las Vegas.
The team slowly established itself as a top team in the league, and was able to make it to the post season in its inaugural season. They made it all the way to the Division semifinals, and respectably bowed out after losing to Alaska. Following a disappointing second season, where they did not qualify for the playoffs, the team made up for it by putting up a strong showing in their third season. They made it all the way to the Conference Finals and missed out on a chance to play for the Kelly Cup after losing 4-0 to Los Angeles. By the 2012-2013 Season, the team had become an established playoff contender and was a regular in the post season.
Over the last nineteen years, the Grizzlies have made it to the playoffs in fourteen seasons and have had a .500 or better winning percentage fifteen times. As the team grew in prominence, big NHL franchises started taking notice. In 2008, four Grizzlies players (Andrew McDonald, Trevor Smith, Peter Mannino and Joel Rechlicz) were drafted into NHL teams and the following year, fifteen former Grizzlies made their NHL debuts. The number keeps on growing yearly.
