Sans Francisco 49ers started off their journey in NFL in 1950. Losing the first game of the season, they made a hat-trick by winning the next three. Tragedy hit the 49ers, when their owner Tony Morabito died of heart attack during a game. 49ers got the news during half-time, when their coach Frankie Albert was given a note that said the words: "Tony's gone" The news struck the 49ers hard, with tears streaming down their faces, they vowed to win the game in honor of their owner. They scored 14 points and won the game by 21-17.
49ers hosted a game the "Detroit Lions" on November 13, 1957. The game is known to have featured the greatest pass play. 49ners teams of 80's and 90's are known as great dynasty. The decades are marked by success and the time span is no doubt "golden era" for the 49ers. They won five Super Bowl championships and more than 10 games for 16 seasons. Especially notable are the teams from 1984 and 1989. Some superstar players who played in this team were: Joe Montana - the player to be rewarded by Super Bowl's "Most Valuable Player" three times, Ronnie Lott, Jerry Rice and Steve Young - highest quarterback rating holder. Era is marked with some of the most historically memorable plays such as "The Catch" and "Super Bowl XXIII"

Kezar Stadium has been the home field for 49ers in the past. Since 1971, their home field has been Candlestick Park. The stadium is situated on the western shore of Sans Francisco Bay. Due to location next to a bay, it often creates unusual playing conditions as the strong winds swirl into the stadium. Back in 1950's when it was constructed there wasn't much land available in the area to build a stadium. The stadium has a natural bluegrass ground and has a capacity of 69,732 seats. The stadium was originally constructed as a baseball field, later underwent massive reconstruction and was reformed into a football ground. The field is also known as being the last live commercial concert venue for The Beatles on August 29, 1966.
