Basketball teams from two wonderful women's programs will soon go head to head in the Pacific Tigers vs. San Francisco Dons game. It promises to be another humdinger of a clash between two teams that have seen their fortunes improve in the recent past. It is a conference game which will add extra spice to proceedings. Both sides have been quite consistent in their performances in the last few years. It will be a test of their mental strength, skill and passion this time around. The Pacific Tigers vs. San Francisco Dons will see the latter play at their home arena. The arena is among the oldest basketball centers in the West Coast Conference. It is a place where Dons women and their men counterparts have delivered win after win over the years to make it one of the most famous basketball arenas in intercollegiate sports.

The San Francisco Dons women's basketball program has undergone a bit of resurgence as of late. It all began in the middle of the 1990's and has more or less carried on to the current era. It was in the year 1995 that the Dons clinched their first ever conference title and went all the way to taking part in the NCAA Tournament. That particular season is what got the program going and they haven't really looked back since.

They repeated the feat next year and won the conference title for the second year running. In that NCAA Tournament, the team went all the way to the Sweet Sixteen as well. They completed a hat trick of conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in the year 1997 to make their mark on the sport. The Dons followed that up by going all the way to the WNIT in 2002. They are now being coached by none other than the legendary Jennifer Azzi who was a part of the US teams that won Gold in the 1996 Olympics and Gold in the FIFA World Championships in 1990 and 1998.

The Pacific Tigers vs. San Francisco Dons has all the ingredients of being a classic encounter. The Tigers will be entering the lion's den but they now have experience and form on their side. They won their first Big West conference title earlier in 2013 before moving to the WCC after that.
