Oklahoma City Redhawks
The Oklahoma RedHawks is a name of a minor league baseball team, which is based in the Oklahoma City of Oklahoma state. The team, which plays in the Pacific Coast League, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
The RedHawks play their home games in AT&T Bricktown Ballpark; which is located in the Bricktown Entertainment District in downtown Oklahoma City.
The same team had an earlier name of Oklahoma City 89ers, right from the years of 1962 to 1997. The original name had an inspiration from the great Land Run of 1889, which led to the founding of Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City 89ers had started to play in 1962 as one of the minor-league affiliates of the Houston Colt .45's. Later, in the year of 1970, the players had a new tie up with the Cleveland Indians and later with the Philadelphia Phillies that lasted into the 1980s.
it happened in the year of 1983, that the Texas Rangers became the parent club for the team in discussion, it was a relationship that went on to continue as the 89ers adopted all new colors and uniforms along with the nickname RedHawks in the year of 1997, and they had also shifted to the new Bricktown Ballpark too.
The team had caught the attention of the people and there were fairly large crowds, at the park and the Oklahoma RedHawks had always proved to be very competitive with the exception of a couple of seasons.
The team has recently changed its name to the Oklahoma City RedHawks. There is a process of adoption of new logos and colors for the RedHawks.
It is expect that at the beginning of the year of 2009, the Pacific Coast League baseball team will be known as the Oklahoma City RedHawks.
The new logo unveiling ceremony was held on the Sept. 16 Triple-A Championship game at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The team members find it extremely important to change the name, on the demand of the fans as their tax investment wasn't reflected in the team name.
It would definitely add up in the benefit of the team. The colors have been changed from brick red and black, to red and navy blue, it seems quite similar to the colors used by the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox.
So much effort had been put on to develop a new logo. Pruitt, the manager has declared that the said the change is not related to the arrival of the soon-to-be-named Oklahoma City NBA franchise, which will include the city's name in its branding. The Blazers' hockey team and Yard Dawgz' arenafootball2 team include Oklahoma City in their names.
The RedHawks will be expanding their offerings of merchandise on-line and at even its outlet store in Penn Square Mall. The new uniform has feature an OKC? logo and a new team logo as its secondary mark.
The team will have the option of two home uniform combinations, a road uniform and a uniform for batting practice. All of the new logos would be printed on merchandise.
