Off-Road Stadium Super Trucks is a racing event that is the brainchild of renowned NASCAR driver Robby Gordon. The idea of starting a race event was in his mind for quite some time. He always wanted to start a race series similar to the race concept given by legendary off-road racer Mickey Thompson. Thompson was a driver of many talents, he had taken part in not just routine speed races but also in unusual racing events like land speed racing vehicles as well drag racing cars. He made history by becoming the first ever American to beat the land speed record of John Cobb in 1960. He broke the previous record of 402 miles per hour and hit 406 miles per hour.
Off-Road Stadium Super Trucks is a game that has four classes namely Bigfoot Monster Trucks that features trucks with oversized tires. One class is called Trophy Karts for young drivers with smaller off-road cars. Third class is called Super Buggy and as the name implies it features elongated buggies with a longer bonnet with wide tires. Fourth class is Stadium Super Trucks featuring expert drivers. Most of the bigger trucks have V 8 engines with 20 inches of wheel travel with a horsepower of 600. Some of the popular drivers in the event are Greg Adler, Justin Lofton, Lalo Laguna, Ricky Johnson, Robby Gordon, Mike Jenkins and Jeff Ward.
Some of the venues on which this event has taken place are Sam Boyd Stadium, Georgia Dome, Long Beach grand Prix, University of Phoenix Stadium, Soldier Field, Edward Jones Dome and Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. University of Phoenix Stadium was the venue where the first official race took place in April 2013. The driver who wins one of the races in the event gets prize money of $ 40,000 and the overall championship winner gets $500,000.
