The Navy Midshipmen are one of the oldest collegiate level football teams around. They played their first season in 1879 and since then, they have been a constant presence on the field. Currently, they play in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision as an independent team. However, playing as an independent team has never hindered their game, and they've enjoyed some of collegiate football's most successful seasons.
The Midshipmen currently hold one National Title, and twenty-three All-American Consensuses. Their overall record as of 2013 puts them with over six hundred wins and just over five hundred losses.
They share a historic rivalry with the U.S Military Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. All three of these teams also off in the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. The Midshipmen have won the trophy a total of fourteen times, including consecutive wins from 2003 to 2009, and then again in 2012 and 2013. This year, the Midshipmen head onto the field under the guidance of Head Coach, Ken Niumatalolo. Niumatalolo has been the coach of the team since 2007, and has maintained an overall winning record with the team.
On the other end of the line will be the Ohio State Buckeyes, who play in the East Division of the Big Ten Conference. The Big Ten features some of the best teams in collegiate football, and the Buckeyes stand true to that as they head to the field with a record of thirty six Conference Titles, two Division Titles, seventy eight All American Consensuses and seven National Titles.
As of the 2014 preseason, they hold more than eight hundred overall wins and just over three hundred losses. Over three hundred former Buckeyes have been drafted for professional football and nine of these ex-Buckeyes have been placed on the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Currently, the team is under the tutelage of Head Coach, Urban Meyer, who is determined to lead this team to victory. Meyer gave the team a perfect season in 2012, and led them to the Leaders Division Championship win in 2013. This year, many are hopeful for yet another winning season.
