Modesto Nuts
The Modesto Nuts in one of the minor league baseball team of Modesto- California. They are considered as a high-A class team in the California League and a farm team of the Colorado Rockies. They usually play their home games at John Thurman Field. The stadium was opened in 1955 and renovated in the year of 1997. It has a capacity of 4,000 fans.

The present name was adopted by the team in the year of 2005, after the end of affiliation with the Oakland Athletics.. The new name was chosen to reflect the several types of nuts that are grown in this region of California. The flagship radio station of the Modesto Nuts is KESP, Am 970 ESPN Radio.

In the spring season of 2008, the team was the subject of Bush League TV's short internet video Bush League 101: How to Bush League a Bush League Baseball Team. Jerry Weinstein became the manager for the second season of the Modesto Nuts.

In 2007 Weinstein led the Nuts to a playoff berth as the team compiled an overall record of 76-64. Weinstein has over 39 years of coaching experience as the pitching coach for the Cal Poly baseball team from 2001-2005.

Here we need to discuss about the Butch Hughes, who has returned for his fifth season with the Rockies organization. He had helped guide 16-game winner and California League Pitcher of the Year in the year of 2007.

He has been in a professional baseball for 24 years and also spent time coaching at the amateur level and overseas. He had also spent eleven seasons as a head coach at Merced College, where he won seven state championships.

There are numerous of job openings in the Nuts, from the month of April. Anyone, who is interested in applying for a position with the Modesto Nuts, needs to come to the ballpark and fill out an application or call at their number.

The Nuts are in process of accepting the applications almost for the whole year. There are some of the important positions like Ticket takers, ticket sellers, parking attendants, Concessions stand cashiers, cooks, games area staff, and others available

There is a great program by the Modesto Nuts for reading. Their reading program has really motivated over 100,000 students to read and achieve their goals since 2002. The Modesto Nuts have a great level of commitment to continue the great program.

A Modesto Nuts mascot and a front office staff member will visit each school to outline the program for the teachers and motivate the students to read. The 30-minute interactive event is a fun and informative time for everyone involved. It is made possible that the teachers will receive all materials needed for the program at this event.

The Modesto Nuts Reading Program will span over a total of four weeks which is allotted by each individual teacher. Because each classroom has its own unique chemistry, each teacher will set their own weekly goals personalized to the needs of their students.

For every week a student achieves their goal they will receive a prize with the grand prize being a night out at John Thurman Field, dinner and a pre-game parade.

After completion of the final goal, students will receive a ticket form for their parent to fill out. This form will give the parents the option of purchasing more tickets for their family. Once we receive the completed forms from each class, we will deliver the tickets to the school representative.
