Minnesota Swarm
Minnesota Swarm are a box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League. The team plays at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The team had the owners at start, which also had the ownership of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
The name ?Swarm? for the team was selected due to the inspiration from the words like Thrill, Rush and Bullheads. John J. Arlotta was officially declared as the new owner of the team on July 16, 2008.
The Minnesota Swarm had got a chance to play its first exhibition game in the month of December in 2004; it was played against the Colorado Mammoth.
The team had captivated the attention of over 14,000 fans, which in itself is a record for any NLL preseason game.
The Swarm had the first regular season game in Rochester, it was against the Knighthawks in the month of January in 2005. They had won the game by 12-11. Craig Conn was the star player, as he had scored the first goal in the franchise history.
It was the same time for their first home regular season. Mike Simpson was appointed as the coach of the team for the first. Craig Conn, being a forward and Ryan Cousins as defenseman were named reserves for the East Division All-Star Team at the 2005 NLL All Star Game.
It was the same time, when Ryder Bateman had a tie ranking for second among NLL rookies in goals and third in scoring. Adam Mueller became the head coach of the team in 2005.
The Swarm had really created the history by having the NLL playoffs in 2006 season and afterwards by a score of 8-8. Adam Mueller had resigned as coach in July of 2006 and he was by Duane Jacobs I the month of August. In 2007 the Swarm improved to a 9-7 record, again making the playoffs.
The NLL season of 2008 is remarkable, as the Swarm have really established a league record by having a run of 12-0 lead before the New York Titans; it has broken their scoreless record in the third quarter of the contest.
