PGA Tour's new and highly successful tournament, the Greenbrier Classic will once again entertain all sport fans and golf lovers this season. Replacing the highly popular Michigan's Buick Open tournament, the Greenbrier Classic premiered in 2010. Since then, the golfing event takes place in the city of White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia. The city has a population of just over two thousand, making the event a highly popular amongst the residents as well as visitors, who enjoy the intimate setting of the area. The tournament is held at the Old White course located in the luxurious and highly acclaimed resort, the Greenbrier. The Old White course has hosted several major golf competitions over the years. The course initially opened in 1914 but became a part of the PGA Tour course when it was inducted into the Tournament Players Club, a chain of PGA Tour's golf courses. Since becoming a part of the TPC, the course has been elevated at five hundred and sixty meters above sea level and extended to over six thousand and six hundred meters.
The first Greenbrier Classic Golf tournament was won by Stuart Appleby, who after scoring fifty nine points, became the fifth PGA Tour participant to reach such a score. Stuart managed to bag over a million dollar winner's check in 2010. With an overall score of sixty nine, Scott Stallings won the 2011 Greenbrier Classic championship title after facing a tough competition from Bill Hass and Bob Estes. In 2012, the rookie player Ted Potter, Jr. surprised the crowd after a nail biting victory over Troy Kelly. The 2012 Championship tournament was witnessed live by thousands of people whereas millions enjoyed the live broadcasts at home.
