Details of Frozen Four and the Ticket Luck value
Hold on to your seats tight fellow, fasten your seat belts, put on your mittens for this is the time of the year when you get to take a skid on the snow with the Frozen Four! The matches held under the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which is a voluntary association made up of a total of 1,281 institutions like colleges, universities, schools, organizations, conferences and individuals organizing games and athletic programs among varsities and colleges in the United States of America and Canada. It was founded as Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1906 which later on became NCAA in 1910.
The championship consists of single elimination tournament, on the basis of which a national champion is determined on collegiate level. The semi finals or the final four were not referred to as Frozen Four until 1999. The Women Final Fours were not called Woman Frozen Four until 2001. Frozen four is a derivation of Final Four per se. Final Four was first used for the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship and the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship. It is a registered trademark of NCAA and thus cannot be used by any other sports or organization in the United States of America. During the Frozen Four weekends, important ceremonies like the Hockey Humanitarian Award, Hobey Baker Award ceremony and USCHO.com Town Hall Meeting are held.
The NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament is a knockout competition of 16 schools. The finals in particular are held at Verizon Center Washington, DC. The NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament for the season of 2008-09 was held from March 27, 2009 to April 11. The current National Champion is Boston University. Coached by Jack Parker, the team cruised to win its 5th NCAA championship title thrashing Vermont in the Frozen Four of the East Regional to meet Miami University in the final which was no match for them either. In the end Boston University won 4 - 3. The sophomore student Colby Cohen who was playing as a defenseman for the Boston University team scored the most beautiful goal of the entire tournament which also happened to be not only the match but the championship winning goal in the overtime and thus was awarded the Frozen Four's Most Outstanding Player award.
The Frozen Four is the most exciting part of the NCAA championship which also marks the point from where the actual fun of the Men's Ice Hockey starts for this is when teams are filtered down to four highly, rather most competitive teams via single elimination. The tournament starts with 16 teams from all 6 Division I Conferences in the United States of America and Canada. All 16 teams are then divided into 4 regionals categories, each having 4 teams. The Championship Committee picks each team as per its competitive spirit, commercial success etc. to be sought and put in to an appropriate regional. Any host team is most likely to end within that very regional. The winners of these regionals advance to the Frozen Four.
The schools which are most likely to make it to the Frozen Four are Michigan which has won 9 championships already, along with Denver and North Dakota with 7 championships each. Not so far behind is Wisconsin for it has won no less than 6 NCAA championships. Similarly state which is most likely to be honored with being in the Frozen Four is Michigan which wins it hands down! The colleges and varsities of Michigan have made more than 19 appearances in the Frozen Four which is way too many for any other state. The closet which any stage managed to get to Michigan's impressive 19 appearances is Colorado and Massachusetts with more than 9 appearances each, followed closely by North Dakota and Wisconsin with 7 and 6 appearances respectively. That means it is pretty much the same as schools.
The Summer Season in Washington DC is all about the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The hottest of this hot event is the Frozen Four which is ironic in every sense of the word. All the crazy ice hockey fans gather to make it a pleasant time for themselves and their teams for ice hockey fans make the one heck of an over excited crowd, especially at collegiate level.
