Citadel Bulldogs are coming to Florida for a game against Florida State Seminoles at the latter's home ground, Doak Campbell Stadium. The Citadel Bulldogs are the sports teams representing The Citadel in South Carolina's Military College, all of which compete in NCAA Division I. The Bulldogs varsity teams primarily compete in the Southern Conference, while its rifle teams participate in South Eastern Air Rifle Conferences. The Bulldogs have sixteen teams, including seven for women and nine for men.
Florida State Seminoles represent Florida State University and participate in NCAA Division I in football and in the Atlantic Coast Conference for all other sports. They field twenty teams, eleven for women and nine for men, and have won twelve National titles till day. They have also one over hundred team Conference titles, alongside many individual conference and national titles.
The Seminoles have produced many players that have made it to the NFL, including Samari Rolle, Brad Johnson, Laveranues Coles, Christian Ponder, and Deion Sanders. The Seminoles' football team came among one of the nation's best under Bobby Bowden's head coaching. The team participated in five National Championships, from 1993 to 2001. They have won three of these, including in 1993, 1999 as well as 2013. Their football team was the best in college football in the 90s, with a ninety percent winning rate.
The Seminoles also made a new NCAA record for making the most number of consecutive Top Five completions in AP football poll. The Citadel Bulldogs have won the Southern Conference Championships twice, in 1961 and 1992. They won the Tangerine Bowl in 1960, by beating Tennessee Tech, and appeared thrice in the FCS Playoffs, entering the second round in 1992. Their '92 squad came to an end with a record of eleven to two, ranking at number one in the final I-AA poll of the regular season.
As of 2005, several Bulldogs players have made it to the NFL teams, while many alumni have played in pro ranks, one such example being the ESPN's former analyst, Paul Maguire. The Bulldogs' new head coach, Mike Houston has pledged to keep up with the triple option team scheme, which the team has used in the last three seasons.
