Two American soccer clubs, members of the USL Pro league, will go head to head at the upcoming Charlotte Eagles vs Orlando City Lions game. These are teams that have won many titles to become the most famous names in the business. They have distinguished themselves at various levels of the American soccer pyramid. They also have rivalries with the Richmond Kickers of the Second Division, the Wilmington Hammerheads and the Northern Virginia Royals.

 

The Eagles have won one South Atlantic Division championship in the USISL Pro League, a USL D-3 Pro League championship and a division championship. The Eagles have also got their hands on a USL Pro Soccer League Southern Division championship, two USL Second Division championships and three Southern Derby championships; in 2001, 2012 and 2013.

 

As one half of the Charlotte Eagles vs Orlando City Lions game, they will be facing the Lions, a team formed in 2010. The Orlando City Lions play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, a five thousand three hundred seating capacity stadium.

 

The Lions were originally formed as the Austin Aztex FC in 2008 and changed names after moving to Orlando, Florida. As one of the most successful lower division soccer teams in the US, they have a fierce rivalry with the Tampa Bay Roadies.

 

The Lions are owned by Flavio Augusto da Silva, John Bonner and Phil Rawlins. Adrian Heath is the head coach of the USL Pro league. The Lions are set to join Major League Soccer in 2015 as an expansion franchise, which is an example of just how good they really are. During the 2012 Regular Season, the Lions came second in the league and emerged as the league champion during the playoffs. The Lions are set to become the first Major League Soccer franchise to be based in Florida since the Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion FC stopped playing in 2001.
