Established in 1919, Belenenses is among the oldest sports clubs in Portugal. The club has won several national titles over the years including three Portuguese Cups, two Segunda Liga, six Lisbon Championships, three Championships of Portugal and twelve impressive Lisbon Honor Cups. The club has competed for international titles, making it to the European Cup Winners' Cup, and the UEFA Cup.  In the recent past, the team was relegated to the Segunda Liga but by March 2013, it returned to the prestigious Primeira Liga.
