It is one of many events organized each year by the Championship Bull Riding. It features the best professional bull riders in the world. The CBR West Texas Shootout, set to be held at the El Paso County Coliseum at 4100 E Paisano, will also feature live performances by the likes of the Trailer Band. The CBR West Texas Shootout is an event organized by Championship Bull Riding, a professional bull riding organization located in Fort Worth, Texas. CBR was founded by Joel Logan, a Texas businessman, and Terry Williams, a stock contractor, in 2002. Its first president was famous champion bull rider, Tuff Hedeman, who has won the World Championship four times. Hedeman is an inductee of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. He stayed on as the president from 2005 to 2010, and then became CBR's ambassador and a key part of the live event production team.
In 2014, CBR plans to take its professional bull riding events all over the US, visiting as much as seventy venues. This is part of its CBR Road to Cheyenne Tour and the Horizon Series. This makes it one of the most popular events in pro bull riding and rodeo sports today. On TV, CBR's events have been broadcasted since 2004. Outdoor Channel began broadcasting its events in 2004, until 2007. In 2008, RFD-TV broadcast the shows, followed by Great American Country from 2009 to 2011. Since 2012, Fox Sports Networks and its channels have broadcast CBR events.
Each year, CBR Finals are held, in various US cities. These feature the best pro bull riders in the business. For the first three years, Jackson, Mississippi played host to the CBR Finals. These were then held in Las Vegas from 2006 to 2008, followed by Kansas City, Missouri, then Loveland, Colorado and finally Cheyenne. In 2013, Cole Echols emerged as the CBR World Champion.
