Byron Nelson Championship Tickets

The Byron Nelson Championship is a golf tournament that takes place each year at Irving in Texas. It is part of the PGA Tour and is one of the oldest pro golf tournaments today, launched way back in 1944. Since then, it has become one of the foremost events in golf, currently sponsored by technology conglomerate, HP. It is organized annually at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas. It is a seventy par tournament and over seven thousand yards in length. Its format is stroke play and its prize fund is a staggering six and a half million dollars, attracting audiences from all over the US who book Byron Nelson Championship tickets as soon as they are out in the market.

The Byron Nelson Championship record score holders are Rory Sabbatini at an aggregate score of two hundred and sixty one, a feat accomplished in 2009. The to par record score holder is Sam Snead at minus twenty, a feat he achieved back in 1957 and that, since then, no one has managed to break. The current champion is Jason Dufner. Held in Las Colinas, it is one of the two PGA Tour tournaments organized in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex metropolitan area, making it the only such area to be home to two PGA tournaments. It is also the biggest fundraiser in the PGA Tour, raising over one hundred and twenty million dollars to date. It was also one of the only tournaments in the PGA Tour to have been named after a pro golfer and is now one of two such tournaments, alongside the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

During the start of the Byron Nelson Championship golf tournament, it was held at several golf courses in Dallas. The very first winner of the tournament was Bryon Nelson who won it in 1944. The first golf course to play host to the tournament was the Lakewood Country Club. It was held again in 1945, this time at the Dallas Country Club and again at the Brook Hollow Golf Club in 1946. During the early fifties, the tournament did not take place. In 1956, it was organized at the Preston Hollow Country Club and continued to take place each year.

In 1968, in honor of Bryon Nelson, the tournament was labeled as the Bryon Nelson Golf Classic. Since then, it has been known by Bryon Nelson's name. It has been hosted by many venues including the Glen Lake Country Club, the Oak Cliff Country Club, the Preston trail Club, the Las Colinas Sports Club and the TPC Club. Tom Watson has won the tournament the most number of times, at four wins, all from 1975 to 1980 in just five years and consecutively from 1978 to 1980.  Sam Snead has won the tournament three times whereas Bruce Lietzke and Jack Nicklaus have won it twice.
