Details of Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and the Ticket Luck value

Lawn tennis is one of those sports that always manage to fetch awesome spectatorship through both live play and television transmissions. It has always been reckoned as a game for the gentlemen with females also entering the professional scene in the last century. Grand slam events play a sound role in promoting this game worldwide. Men's professional tennis is being taken very seriously by the organizers of this game. In the same spirit, the first executive director of ATP organized a series of tennis tournaments on a Grand Prix pattern starting in 1969 which was scheduled for year end. Tokyo was the city where the first Masters was staged in 1970 followed by other chosen venues in cities like Boston, Houston, Stockholm, Paris and Melbourne. For thirteen years from 1977 to 1989, Madison Square Garden in New York commanded prestige in hosting this event.

A major tennis tournament that adds vibrancy to the game is Barclays ATP World Tour Finals where the players prove that there is more to this game than just quick reflexes. The first eight seeded male players get to play in this tournament which is not a straightforward knock-out event. The eight players who qualify in Barclays ATP World Tour Finals are kept in two groups of four. Three round-robin matches are played in each group with the players competing with the other three players. Finally, two players emerge as semi-finalists having beaten others and the champion of the event is thus decided based upon the final.

Barclays ATP World Tour Finals has developed from a process of championship events that originated in 1970. It was basically known as The Masters Grand Prix tournament being coordinated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Across the pages of time, it evolved as ATP Tour World Championship (ATP) replacing the Masters when the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) was set up. World ranking points were not linked with The Masters rather the event was geared to stage matches amongst the top players on men's tour towards the year-end. With the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) taking charge in 1990, ATP Tour World Championship (ATP) substituted the Masters.

ATP had to justify the world ranking points whereby a player progressing in a tournament would secure the equal number of points as they would gain for winning any of the four Grand Slam tournaments. Hence, Grand Slam Cup created by ITF came into place. The event had sixteen players participating that had performed the best in Grand Slam tournaments the same year. By December 1999, the two separate events were suspended by the ITF and ATF and the Tennis Masters Cups commenced instead in which eight players contested on the same pattern as the ATP Tour World Championships and the Masters. As a new rule, a player attaining the ranking of 8th in the ATP Champion's Race global was not fully entitled to gain entry. It was however laid down that a person winning one of the year's Grand Slam events could qualify to play for Tennis Masters Cup if he has been in the top twenty even though he could not have been included in the top 8 in comparison with an eight-ranked player.

New horizons dawned and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals was a title that replaced The Masters in 2009. The O2 at will be the home venue where the event will be held from 2009 to 2012. Barclays ATP World Tour Finals comprises of both single and double events. These events are staged during the same week and at the same venue compared to the initial years when singles and doubles were held with a week's gap separately. Eight most dynamic teams on the tour each year get represented in The doubles with the same trend being followed for singles teams. When a group phase initiates, all teams have to play 3 round-robin matches.

Some of the players that have achieved the most wins (five each) in Barclays ATP World Tour Finals (previously known as The Masters) are former world No. 1 Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl. It has been rather interesting to witness the proceedings of this event. Sampras provided the audience with just the right entertainment when he defeated Boris Becker in the 1996 final. John McEnroe has contributed also by securing three wins New York in 1978. Another player that needs no introduction is Bjorn Borg with continuous wins in 1979-80.

Do not pile up your stress with the daily routine of life. Break away from the system by inviting some change in your life. Book Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Tickets gaining entry to a grand professional lawn tennis event!
