Ball State Cardinals

Ball State Cardinals is the name given to varsity teams belonging to the Ball State University located in Muncie, Indiana. The teams compete in NCAA’s Division I under the membership of Mid-American Conference in all other sports than volleyball. In volleyball the team is a member of Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Their baseball team currently plays in the West Division of MAC under the head coach Alex Marconi. Their assistant coaches are Pete Milas and Jeremy Plexico. The baseball team started playing in the mid of 1918. Ball State Cardinals baseball team plays its home games at the Ball Diamond Stadium situated on the campus of Ball State University. It is a specially designed baseball arena that has a seating capacity of more than 1,700 fans per game. Cardinals were given their current name in 1927 when Paul Williams the athletic director suggested it and a voting session was held among the students of the university. Before that the athletic teams belonging to the institute were called the “Hooseroons.”  Their mascot is called “Charlie Cardinal” and their fight song is Fight, Team, Fight. It was written in 1930 by Carl Hofer. The Cardinals also have a cheerleading non-athletic team.
 
Ball State Cardinals have two main facilities, John E. Worthen Arena and Scheumann Stadium. They have a big Ball Gymnasium as well. The sporting facilities underwent a number of renovations in 2010 and during that a many new things were included on the campus. Currently their baseball team is warming up for a number of upcoming games, one which is going to be played very soon at the Carolina Stadium against South Carolina Gamecocks. Both of the teams belong to MAC and are evenly matched.
 
Carolina Stadium is a college baseball stadium located on the banks of Congaree River. The stadium was replaced with an old one when it was closed down in 2007 for renovations. It reopened with a new name in February of 2009. The ground has a seating capacity of about 8,240.
