The Austin Peay Governors is the athletics program of the Austin Peay State University, located in Clarksville, Tennessee. With a bright future ahead of them, the Austin Peay Governors men’s basketball is already recognized as a team to be reckoned with in their conference and the entire NCAA Division I in so far as men’s basketball is concerned. Their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament earned them a position in the Sweet Sixteen, ranking them as one of the top sixteen men’s basketball teams in the US. They have also appeared in not one but two National Invitation Tournaments, with a winning result during their first appearance in 2004 against the Belmont Bruins of the Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
