Arnold Classic
Named after Arnold Schwarzenegger, Arnold classic is an annual body building competition that is held in late February or early March of every year.
The Arnold Classic is considered to be the most rewarding and prestigious body building event and is held in Columbus, Ohio every year. One of the main attractions of the event is its prizes that are awarded to the winners.
The first position holder is awarded with a cheque worth US$ 130,000 along with a watch from Rolex and a Hummer. The competition is usually tough and the winners are declared with a little difference in their points.
There are 3 events for women as well that are incorporated within the competition. The three competitions for women are Ms. International, Fitness International and Figure International.
The limitations of Arnold Classic were further expanded with the inception of gymnastics, wrestling, archery, strongman competitions, yoga, martial arts and several other sports.
Greater Columbus Convention Center hosts the Arnold Expo, while Franklin County Veterans Memorial Auditorium hosts the finals of fitness, body building, figure, fitness and strongman competitions.
This year at Arnold Sports Festival, the Arnold Classic Bodybuilding competition was won by Dexter Jackson, who was then awarded with a cheque for US$130,000 along with trophy, an Audemars Piquet watch and a Tony Nowak Jacket by the Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.
The cheque was presented to Jackson by Steve Blechman. The Most Entertaining Posing Award, this year, was awarded to Melvin Anthony. He received a cheque for US$ 10,000 from Bill Windscheif and Rich Gaspari.
The award for the Most Muscular Man went to Branch Warren this year. This year's runner up was Phil Heath, who after taking the second spot was presented with a Cheque for US$ 75000 by Gerard Dente along with an Arnold Classic Medallion.
The 3rd runner up, this year, was Kai Green and received a Cheque of US$ 50,000 and a Medallion by Paul Hemmingway and Bernardo Gonzaga, respectively.
Every year Arnold Expo is held for three days, and show cases healthy lifestyle methods and products to more than 150,000 fans nationwide, making it the largest fitness expo held throughout United States.
The athletic competitions of the Arnold Sports Festival last for three days and features more than 17,000 athletes competing in about 39 sporting events in front of 150,000 fitness fans, on the whole.
Through these 39 sporting events the physical capabilities of the competitors are put to the test through wide range of sports. At the Arnold Sports Festival, there are more than 650 booth spaces located with in Arnold Expo.
Arnold Sporting Festival provides with the equal opportunities to the sponsors as much as it does to its competitors. As through the course of 3 days of sporting events, eyes of more than 150,000 fitness fans would witness the message conveyed by the sponsors.
The cost of ticket is $10, which is valid for all the sporting events that are held in Nationwide Arena, Veterans Memorial Exhibit Hall and Greater Columbus Convention Centre, through the course of three days.
