Amongst the games to be held this year, the Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers game stands out as among the most anticipated ones. It features two of the toughest athletic programs of the country; one from the University of Arkansas and the other from the Appalachian State University. These teams' meeting at the same venue is so eagerly awaited that many Arkansas Razorbacks vs Appalachian State Mountaineers tickets have been pre-ordered.
The University of Arkansas' athletic program is a member of the Southeast Conference in the NCAA Division I FBS. Known as the Arkansas Razorbacks, these teams are led by athletic director Jeff Long. Nineteen teams represent the university in men's and women's sports. Their football team plays at the Frank Boyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The basketball team dribbles at the Bud Walton Arena and the baseball team at the Baum Stadium at George Cole Field. Nicknamed as The Hogs, the teams get the name from a 1910 match against LSU, in which the team played like 'a wild band of razorback hogs'. At that time the team was under the coach Hugo Bezdek, who was later, included into the College Football Hall of Fame.
The Razorbacks have won several National NCAA championships in many sports, including men's football, men's basketball, men's indoor track and field, which is a record twenty times; men's outdoor track and field ten times and men's cross country eleven times. The club has also won Triple Crown five times. Playing against them in the upcoming game is the team from the Appalachian State University, formerly a member of the Southern Conference. In 2014, the program joined the Sun Belt Conference except for soccer and wrestling teams, which will play in the former conference. The Mountaineers are an NCAA Division I FCS team led by athletic director, Charlie Cobb.
The Appalachian State University has twenty varsity teams, of which the football team plays at the Kidd Brewer Stadium. The basketball team plays at the Holmes Center with the baseball team playing at the Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. The soccer team plays at the ASU Soccer Stadium, cheered on by mascot Yosef. They are the only North Carolina's college to have won a National NCAA Championship in football. They won three championships consecutively and became the first college in the US to do so since the formation of the NCAA Division I-AA. In 2007, their win of the National NCAA Championship in football was ranked as one of the greatest victories of NCAA history, when they became the first FCS team to defeat an FBS nationally ranked team. At this game, they can be seen playing live in the stadium. For the experience, get your Arkansas Razorbacks vs Appalachian State Mountaineers tickets.
