It wasn’t until another ten years later that the team won its first title in the form of the “Coppa Italia” in 1941. The team came up against the mighty Real Madrid and came up short by a score of two goals to one. Another Coppa Italia followed in 1961. Fiorentina went on to lift the Cup Winners Cup that year as well to win its first European title and become the first team from Italy to win that trophy.
Fiorentina began the 1968-1969 campaign slowly but gathered momentum at the perfect time to beat the likes of Milan and Cagliari to the Serie A title. The club has since gone on to claim the second spot in the league once and has captured the Coppa Italia on three more occasions. It also won its only Supercoppa Italiana trophy in 1996.
