Back in 2007, the team played its first Bowl match as part of the New Orleans Bowl where they brutally defeated their opponents, the Memphis Tigers. The football team has also played in the Motor City Bowl in 2008 and defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas. The baseball team first began playing baseball back in 1983 and is a legendary baseball program that has been labeled as one of the best in the US. This highly successful basketball team has won many awards. These include nine Regional Championships, one Super Regional Championship, three Regular Season Conference Championships, one Conference Tournament Championship, two hundred and ninety student athlete scholarships, ten players as All Americans with seven of them Freshmen and sixty seven players to have gone on to play professional football in leagues like the NFL. The Florida Atlantic Owls basketball team has defeated the Oklahoma State University's Cowboys in a historic match as well as won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. The softball team has won around nine Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in ten years as well as a Sun Belt Conference Championship the year the team joined the Sun Belt Conference.
