At high school and college levels, basketball is quite popular all over the country. Players like Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James are in the limelight. Netball, another form of basketball invented in the USA, is played in countries like UK, West Indies, New Zealand and Australia.
Sports Events in USA are yet incomplete without Ice hockey. The event is known as just "hockey" in the States and it is mostly played in those areas with cold climate. However, hockey is gaining more ground in Sun Belt since the National Hockey League which is the governing body has expanded to other cities. USA Hockey is the supervisory body for amateur hockey in the U.S. Hockey actually gained respect in the US when the national team beat the Soviet Union and Finland to win the gold medal. Most of the players in NHL have come from Canada.
