Details of Yo Gabba Gabba and the Ticket Luck value
Prancing its way into the hearts of millions of excitable kids the world over, children's television's latest sensation Yo Gabba Gabba! is a sure-shot winner. Borne out of two parents' frustration at the disappointing angle taken by children's educational shows, Yo Gabba Gabba! has effectively revolutionized the genre. With engaging segments actively calling on the participation of its youthful spectators, Yo Gabba Gabba!'s colorful characters are the show's throbbing heartbeat.
The interesting storylines, bright colors, and DJ Lance Rock's infectiously cheerful leading personality make the show as good as any on children's television. Yo Gabba Gabba! has been a huge commercial success on Nick Jr. in America, UK, Italy and Australia as well as Treehouse TV in Canada. Furthermore, the appearance of eminent guest stars has added a new dynamic whereby the show is gaining a teenage audience as well. The 'It's Time to Dance' Tour will be hitting arenas nationwide from September 15 and parents are setting the purchase of Yo Gabba Gabba! Tickets on top of their priority lists to give their children one heck of a time!
Yo Gabba Gabba! is another show in the line of many educational children's shows, but unlike its predecessors in the genre, it was not developed commercially by executives. Instead the idea to form the show came from parents who felt firsthand that the substandard educational shows on TV were not giving their children an environment conducive to growth and creativity. Christian Jacobs, lead singer of pop and ska band 'The Aquabats' (stage name The MC Bat Commander), shared his disappointment with his longtime friend Scott Schultz, with whom he had created skateboarding ads and music videos. Actively involved in their kids' upbringing, the duo felt the deficiencies more acutely after parenthood and evolved the idea for Yo Gabba Gabba! by the turn of the century.
The financing of the project was done by friends and family and it made waves on the internet. However, there was little commercial contact, until a viewing by Nacho Libre director Jared Hess resulted in a phone call to the bigwigs of Nickelodeon's creative team who were suitably impressed. The ideas were further developed by Kay Wilson Stallings and Jacobs and Schultz saw it premier in August 2007, finally starting broadcast on Noggin (later Nick Jr.) in February 2008. The production team consisted of producers Justin Lyon and Rita Peruggi, and executive producers Michael Polis and Jon Berrett, while the production companies involved were Nickelodeon Productions, W!LDBRAIN, and The Magic Store Productions.
The soul of Yo Gabba Gabba! is DJ Lance Rock. The St. Louis-born DJ, actor and former vocalist of 'The Raymakers' (real name Lance Robertson) came into the plans of Scott Schultz having earlier played a few shows with his indie band Majestic. His character on Yo Gabba Gabba! is famous for teaching dance moves, encouraging the young audience to make funny faces in a segment and also mixing music for the show. Also appearing in the show is Muno, a tall friendly male Cyclops who is voiced by Josh Bally/David Crespin. Gabba Land's summer meadow is ruled by Foofa (voiced by Emma Jacobs), a spunky female flower bubble. The short green monster Brobee (voiced by Erin and Tara Pearce) rules over the forest, while his friend Toodee (voiced by Melissa Rossiter/Charme Morales), the female arctic cat-dragon, lives in the arctic realm. The magic yellow robot Plex completes Yo Gabba Gabba!'s main characters.
Its format is based on various segments involving the characters, like drawing, singing jingles, dancing, beatboxing (featuring hip hop star Biz Markie) and solving puzzles. The show has had three seasons, with 55 aired episodes, each lasting 25 minutes. Teenage audiences are now regularly tuning in to follow guest stars like Weird Al Yankovic, Jack Black, The Shins, and MGMT. The show has been an unmitigated success, with 2008 and 2009 Emmy nominations for Best Costume Design, and a 2008 BAFTA Children's Award.Australia hosted the show's world premier live concert in May 2009 to give fans with Yo Gabba Gabba!
