Whitesnake, originally a blues rock music band was formed in 1978 by a former member of a music group “Deep Purple”. Later the band started focusing more on hard rock style of music, which proved to be a smart move and brought them commercial and critical success. The lineup consists of the founding member and the lead vocalist David Coverdale, Tommy Aldridge plays drum and percussion, Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach are the backing vocalists and guitarists along with Michael Devin who serves as the bassist. The keyboards are played by Brian Ruedy who also often serves as a backing vocalist. All these members have been a part of the group ever since its inception and are still working together to make it bigger and better.
Whitesnake released a string of top ten albums in United Kingdom. The band’s discography includes hit albums like Ready an' Willing, Come an' Get It, Saints & Sinners and Slide It In, among many others. In 1987, the self-titled record that the group released was the most commercially successful one, spawning two hit songs Is This Love and Here I Go Again. The singles reached number one on the Hot 100 chart. In 1998, the band received nominations for the Brit Award in the category of ‘Best British Group’. During the late 1990s, founder of Whitesnake, David Coverdale concentrated on recording and releasing his solo album “Into The Light” featuring the guitarist Earl Slick. The album came out in 2000 comprising of songs like "Living on Love", "Wherever You May Go", "Midnight Blue" and "Slave" among others.
The band gained a lot of success with extensive touring, performing in gigs and concerts worldwide. Whitesnake has also performed at the Monsters of Rock Festival and rocked the stage live in front of 100,000 screaming fans at the Rock in Rio Festival that took place in Rio de Janeiro. In 2005, VH1 named Whitesnake as the eighty fifth greatest hard rock music group of all time. 2005 marked the twenty fifth anniversary of Whitesnake and the band launched a tour to celebrate this feat. A live album was released titled, Live... In The Still of the Night in 2006 and included songs like "If You Want Me", "Ready to Rock", "Dog”, and "All I Want Is You" among several others. Coverdale described these numbers as "three balls-to-the-walls rockers and a ballad". The songs by Whitesnake have been featured in many movies including Bad Teacher, Just My Luck, The Rocker, Old School, The Fighter and many more. The single “Here I Go Again” is featured in the Broadway hit show Rock of Ages and Power Balladz that is an Off-Broadway production. To support the DVD, Whitesnake kicked off a tour to Europe and Japan. The eleventh record by the band, “Forevermore” came out in 2011 containing a great song "Love Will Set You Free”. The group is ready to embark on its UK tour along with Journey in 2013 and Whitesnake tickets for the concerts are high in demand.
